Yeah, give it a look. The boards and components are not too hard to get to.

Re: Some guy at work wants me to fix his line 6 tube amp

Just to set the record straight...."IF" it is a Spider Valve "Bogner" designed Line 6 then it is a tube amp. Basically with an FX (modeling) processor in between a tube pre-amp and tube power amp. (like a FX Loop) There's a basic SS stage to correct the level prior to the processor. It's actually qu...

Re: The Sims Are Coming! The Sims Are Coming!

I find that in direct-in/recording situations they can be useful and even be an additive tool. But something just gets lost in live playing situations. Unfortunately the pros seem to really like this aspect of the technology.....less weight, reliability and programablilty, recording live, etc. There...

Re: R.I.P. Jon Lord

Man, it seems like every month there's another one of the "greats" having died. Who out there are replacing these guys? I can't tell....very sad. I'm 47 and when I was like 8 or 9 "Made In Japan" was one of the first rock albums I owned. I used to listen to that album over and over. I always loved l...

Re: Editable D-style schematics

Hi, I use the freeware Eagle version to try to open the .sch files but it doesn't work. I have this error message : Error: line 1, column 1: Start tag expected. What is wrong ? Unfortunately it's not compatible with EAGLE. Even though it shares the same file extension (.sch) it's from a different p...

Re: The EJ PRS amp!

Eric was playing the 25th Anniversary model that is a dead copy of an old 50 watt Marshall that EJ sold to Paul Smith. Paul dug it so much that he had Doug Sewell copy it for the PRS amp line, apparently down to unwinding the trafos. The channels were summed internally and I'm pretty sure some funk...

Re: Saw EJ last night

I know this started as a EJ thread, but this is the Garage talk section, and we're just talking. I was lucky enough to be at this concert, and The Allmans sell CD's of the concert, so you can have a keepsake. Cool. Warning..there is some really loud feedback at the 50 second mark, so I would keep t...

Re: How to post a track off a CD

I think thats exactly what the problem is. The file is probably too big. Sounds like a job for one of my teenagers. Thanks If you can't get it under 10 megs it may be easier to make an account at a file server like Soundcloud and post a link. Here's a link to soundcloud. http://soundcloud.com/

Re: Saw EJ last night

Thanks Soundperf, The solo I referred to was on "Desdemona" I think. Derek and Warren trade solos back and forth as usual. Derek went first. I wouldn't have wanted to be Warren right about then. He of course layed down a solo of quality as well. I have the CD in my collection. Maybe I could post it...

Re: Saw EJ last night

Sound perf, Novelty, read "other than the expected". I certainly wasn't implying negatively about the PRS stuff. The greatest live guitar solo I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing was done on a PRS amp by Mr. Derek Trucks in Orange Beach, Alabama. Breathtaking......Love me some Allman bros. Sor...

Re: Astronomy also pisses me off

I'm not even going to get into a big politcal debate here, but I can come up a with a hundred reasons why the middle class is all but destroyed and it has nothing to do with the 2012 Texas GOP platform. Can anyone say "unfunded entitlements"? Somehow I think what Jefferson meant by a "liberal educat...

Re: Saw EJ last night

Update....My son chatted with EJ's tech on their website last nite. He said that Erics main rig was in Europe, and that the PRS amp was just for the Florida leg of the tour. Thus the novelty. That might have something to do with Eric futzing with his stuff a lot. Wait a minute, doesn't he always do...
