Re: Mesa Boogie Mark III - How to get more touch response?

Hey Stephan, how did your mkIII turn out? Did you end up doing all the mods that You did on your Homebrew amp? I had a blue stripe that I did a resonance mod to. A 3n3 cap in series With the neg. Fb circuit. I put it on a p/p pot (r2 master) so that I could bypass it If I wanted to. This made channe...

Re: High power Tweedle Dee.

I have had really good experiences with Dynaco iron as well. Both the A470, A430/431. I've restored and hot rodded Dynaco St.70s and MkII's and MkIII's. I've used the A430 in a crazy Fender Champ, that I turned into a Mesa style Simulclass power amp in, running EL34's and 6550's. Can't get much bett...

Re: High power Tweedle Dee.

'Sounds like either one of those would work really well. If you don't mind spending the extra $ This could also be an option: http://mercurymagnetics.com/images/transformers/schematics/OT/O45RS-L.pdf $276 list is not exactly cheap, but if I had the money I'd spring for one of these. Re: Jim kelly single channel layout ?

I worked on a friend's Fortune amp (Jim Kelley), that thing had a PT that put about 510V on the anodes on the 6V6's, at 120V line AC. I figured Mr. Kelley used a PT intended for 110VAC. I suggested to my buddy, to get a Variac, so he could lower the voltage a little. At 110VAC it sits at about 475VD...

Re: Rock/Jazz switch: how does the amp react with or without it

MY take on it is that when in the "JAZZ" mode, the output is lowered and it sounds a little more "HI-FI-ish", if that makes sense. With other words the tonal response seems a little flatter across the bandwidth of the amp. In my personal opinion, the "Rock" mode suits my taste much better, at least...

Re: ODS Issues

This may or may not have anything to do with it... I noticed, in one of your pix, that there's a red wire that appears to not be soldered properly, to the pcb. check the solder pad, near the edge of the board, close to V2 and the large orange drop cap. Glad you're getting a handle on it, should be a...
