Re: PRS Sonzera Buzz
Update, 6v output on transformer is toasted, just expired after tripping the house electrics, one half of the winding is reading 1.5 volts to chassis, the other 6.3 vots, sort of explains why my filament voltages were all over the place

Re: PRS Sonzera Buzz
Ok with a little and very useful advice from Doug from PRSA, big shout out to him for taking the time , I've now narrowed it down to 120hz interference , changed the earthing a little which has alleviated a little of the issue but still left with a noticeable buzz particularly when the reverb is tur...

PRS Sonzera Buzz
Long time no see folks, finally getting back into amps after a long layoff due to work and family, anyone here got any experience with the PRS sonzera 50, my nephew snagged one 2nd hand and it has a annoying buzz on the clean channel, tried the usual and gone for known to be good tubes, PCB are a PI...

Re: Mesa Mk4 lack of gain, poor sound
Got a friend to pop the old tubes on a test rig, good call from Xtian, one tube absolutely screwed and pulling far more than it should, got it booked in for a quick once over to make sure there's no permanent damage

Re: Mesa Mk4 lack of gain, poor sound
I don't understand your use of terms as how it relates to amp functions. Gain does not come from output tubes as they have no where near the gain of preamp tubes and will have way more of a effect on the amps volume output and punch. I,m fully aware that overall gain has little to do with the power...

Re: Mesa Mk4 lack of gain, poor sound
Picked this one up for a reasonable price knowing it needed a full service amongst other things, alarm bell started ringing when the footswitch exhibited some funny behaviour , Leds, not fully illuminating , functions failing to switch, the amp sounded gutless, sterile, real lack of gain on drive c...

Re: Mesa Mk4 lack of gain, poor sound
Wild guess: Mesa has no bias adjustment in their amps. So if you had badly mismatched power tubes, maybe one or more was drawing too much current, dropping voltages system-wide, and making the LEDs and switching system misbehave. Yeah that makes sense, certainly banging in a matched quad solved all...

Re: Mesa Mk5 35 switching issues
Note, I did ask RJM as they have a custom cable that they refuse to ship to the UK, bit pants really, I have a product and they don't want to sell me the correct cable lol

Mesa Mk5 35 switching issues
Bit of a weird one and hopefully someone will have the answer as Mesa are being evasive to say the least, the channel switching , boost etc all work fine using the standard mesa switch supplied, I made a cable up to use my amp gizmo from the spec mesa supplied and get some pretty horrendous relay po...

Re: Flatish response valve amp
The overall volume is not a issue, simply a case of room in the venues, I may have a play with the Rockster layout, I built one years ago and loved it with pedals

Flatish response valve amp
Anyone got some ideas or guidance for a scratchbuild single channel valve power amp, I,m thinking around the 20 watt mark, purposed for my small gig rig of (waits for the howls of derision) a floor based modeller, sadly the smaller pubs on the local gig circuit take a dim view of a Orange and Mesa i...

Re: Not a way to sell kit
Was going to pull the trigger on a Fractal AX8 but sheesh what the fuck is the problem with the guys at the Fractal forum, ask a couple of questions and get a round of abuse I'm going Helix, helpful forum and at least you can try before you buy. The latest firmware includes a D style, apparently. A...
