Re: Ceratone DC30 - New Build Troubleshooting
I build one of these using my own parts selection. The amp shouldn't be noisy at all. I had an issue with hum when the Master was engaged. Someone on here pointed out that I should seperate the two wires running from the board to the pot.. hey presto.. perfect! Ceriatone recommend you install the OT...

Re: Transformer identification required
Hey guys. I'll send a quick email to Heyboer and see how I get on. My mate was actually given this amp by Paul Reed Smith himself after recording an album at Paul's home studio. Cool, huh? The amp is called the HXDA. It's a custom shop version of the 25th Anniversary model. HX = Hendrix, DA = Duane ...

Transformer identification required
Hi folks, a firend of mine who demos guitars for PRS has been given a PRS HXDA Amp. It's currently wired for US voltage so he hasn't even plugged it in yet. I was wondering if PRS used a PT with other primary taps including 240v. The chassis is pretty crammed and he hasn't been able to get me a clos...

Re: DC30 Clone Debugging Help Required
Thanks very much. That solved the problem. I was worried there might be more to it but thanksfully this hum was easily sorted. Thanks again.

Re: DC30 Clone Debugging Help Required
The amp has been gigged (albeit on low power) 3 times since I made the last post. I'm really pleased with it and haven't really had a issue with the amp being too bright, as was suggested on a couple of other DC-30 cone thread on here. I do have a slight niggle though. When the Master control is in ...

Desoldering Pump Recommendations
Questions rather than answers from me once again! :D I had a little cheap desoldering pump that I used on my last couple of amp builds and some pedals. It has quit working. The threads that hold the ip in have worn which results in the tip flying through the air each time the pump is used!! I'd rath...

Re: Guidance on which amp kit to buy
Well said Ampmike. I would still consider myself a beginner and have availed of some of the excellent advise that the users on this forum have shared. It's an excellent resource and I hope to become a more active participant as my knowledge grows.

Re: Guidance on which amp kit to buy
I haven't seen Ampmaker.co.uk mentioned here yet. Fantastic quality kits and they come with a comprehensive building guide. I had never held a soldering iron before starting with the WF-55 kit last February. I have since built 2 Ampmaker 18 Watters and a DC-30 clone. Just placed an order for the Cer...

Ceriatone Prinzetone Tranny Recommendations
Hi folks. I decided that my next build should be Ceriatone's Prinzetone. I really like the sound of it (based on some clips I've seen/heard) and the general consensus is it's a great little amp. Like my previous build I'll just be getting the chassis from Ceriatone. The rest I can source elsewhere. ...

Re: DC30 Clone Debugging Help Required
Hey Structo. Yeah, that's something I had intended doing. I have the bits to build a 5E5-A but will make the limiter up first I think.

Re: DC30 Clone Debugging Help Required
Thanks for the reply. I took a couple of pics using my phone of the heater wire standoff and pilot lamp. I have now connected the orange wire from the PT to ground. Yes, the pilot lamp has three solder lugs. I connected the heater supply to the two outer lugs leaving the centre lug free. I check the...
