Re: Bin Laden dead

Al Quaida has a reason to lied about this? Maybe it's a conspiracy and Bin Laden is still alive! Now because you posted that am I to belive you are a conspiricy nutjob? OK, I usually avoid this kind of stuff too, but there is just too much comical nonsense here. Where do I start? I don't believe it...

Re: Solen Non Polorized caps for filters

Thanks renshen1957, Under the use you describe the 5V tap is a useful addition, It seems most just consider the use of the 5V tap for the addition of a Tube Recto so they can get the SAG factor. Which really won't happen like they think. For a tube recto as a redundency factor, then yes, that would ...

Re: Solen Non Polorized caps for filters

I agree about the hot recto tube comment and throwing money away, SE Class A amps are by nature already pre-sagged as the power tube is on all the time (running hot), there isn't very much dynamic current variation to come into play or to play with to cause sag. Same can be said of High biased clas...

Re: A Tube for your next Build. "The Mexican Border Blaster

It was a great radio station. Always loved the strange sounds in the backgound as the DJ announced. That spacey weird sound, I always wondered how they produced it. At 2:00AM Beeker Theater came on and always had great horror/mystery Twilight Zone kind of radio shows before they went back to the mus...

Re: Solen Non Polorized caps for filters

diagrammatiks,
Thanks for the links.
the 47uf 630vdc film caps are the size of a half roll of toilet paper.

Yes, I bet they take up a good chunk of the inside of your chassis.
Thanks again,
Jerry

Re: Solen Non Polorized caps for filters

To the True, Wize, Honorable and Just members of "The Amp Garage Forum". Thank you for clearing up this issue that has been on my mind since I joined the forum. I had never seen non-polorized caps used anywhere else as power supply filter caps. You, Gentle People of TAG are blessed with the gift of ...

Re: Solen Non Polorized caps for filters

Thanks diagrammaticks,
You are correct, seems finding low voltage electros is pretty easy, but not with larger voltages.
The Tube Depot site only carries the Solens up to 47uF 630V, where do you find them at 100uF 630V?
Not that I need one but am always looking for part sources.

Re: A Tube for your next Build. "The Mexican Border Blaster

Big Fan of ZZ Top as well, never got a chance to see them in person, only on tv and internet. We had tickets a year ago to see them touring with Areosmith I think it was, but the show got cancelled. If I recall it was due to Steven Tyler's throat acting up. I like Aerosmith but was really going for ...

Re: Amp prototyping

Very true,
Spent more time than I should yesterday checking out that site.
I liked his Turbo Champ Amp for guitar, but he has some other great ideas for High Fi sound as well. Have you gotten to the 300B amp section yet?

Re: Solen Non Polorized caps for filters

Thanks John and sursup, Good info, I think you are convincing me that the Solens are the way to go. Especially with your trick of adding resistance to ground for the vintage vibe John. Plus I am sure you can loose a little brightness by tweaking other points in the circuit and get some of the lost g...

Re: Bin Laden dead

If something happened 3 weeks before, then why is it breaking news?
Conspiracy? Do you not watch the News? I just posted what I saw and heard.
I suppose it really doesn't matter what I would say in response you will just twist the words around anyway!
