Is there a Hiwatt out there somewhere packing active tone control circuitry...
...that I've somehow missed? Dave Hunter, who (from a cursory Google search) I've been led to believe is some kind of tube amp guru, says that the DR103 sports an "active EQ." I know that the tone of this post is probably going to come off like I'm being some kind of smart-ass, or something, but I g...

Allen Brown Sugar?
Does anybody have a layout/schematic for one of these by any chance? I'm not planning a build; I'm just curious, really, about how the thing is melded together, so to speak. Gracias...

Re: "Electronics Technology."
Finally got to talk to an advisor at UA. She said all of my core classes would transfer and that all the chem and biology classes I took when obtain my first B.S. would cover most of my electives. She said I could be an EE in 2.5 to 3 years. I think I'm gonna do it. I'm kind of scared out of my balls.

Re: "Electronics Technology."
Find what you love and do that, if its electronics great, go for it, but go for the best you can, not the quickest/easiest route. I am similar ages and spent the last 12 years as a design engineer/Engineering Manager for Transport and Oil and Gas sectors, dealing with mechanical and electrical desi...

Re: "Electronics Technology."
The hardest part about going from an ASET to a BSEE is that the engineering school probably won't give yyou credit for courses you might have taken like Physics, especially if you took a version that didn't require calculus. So you may find yourself basically starting over. ETs do more than repair ...

I'm considering going back to school. I've been a paramedic for 18 years. I am totally and completely over it. I hate my job. HATE. HAAAAAATE. I went back to school a few years ago and got a B.S. in Biology thinking maybe i'd go to medical school. It was about the time that I was graduating that I r...

A diode biasing question.
In my next project I was thinking of giving diode biasing a shot. I'm tempted to do it in place of any preamp tube that's biased in the normal cathode resistor/bypass cap method. It seem like I remember reading somewhere, though, that there really wasn't much point in using it beyond the input stage...

Re: My take on an SSS
I suspect it's more like this, and that I'm just looking at the layout incorrectly.

Re: My take on an SSS
Alright. At the risk of looking like a complete idiot... I've got a lot going on. Mainly I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to build next. But I've been messing around with J-schem. Drawing up some stuff I've built in the past, some of my own ideas, etc. As part of figuring out what I want to d...

Re: Safety Compliance
I'm curious about this as well, as this is pretty much what I do. Build something; play it until I get bored with it or I need funds for another project; sell it.V2 wrote:

Re: JM Signature Build
Sooooo.... I got mine finished and I've been playing it for a few days. I had the opposite problem of many here. I had way too much bass. I tried wiring the bass pot as it is in the posted layout, being sure to include the jumper on the deep switch. It just wasn't responsive at all. So I then wired ...

I appreciate the effort but I'm looking for white. That vanilla looks pretty tan.

White Taurus tolex?
Does anybody know where to get this stuff? I know some amp companies/builders have it as an option, but the places I've found that just sell tolex don't seem to offer taurus in white.
