Re: 1st gen Combo....Rare!

Joe posted this to his twitter the other day: [IMG:1024:748]http://i674.photobucket.com/albums/vv106/Steve_P_82/Dumblex4_zpsa525c37c.jpg[/img] Not the greatest picture, but some awesome amps! I think the one on the right is #104, which we have talked about here before.... According to Billy Yates he...

Re: Constance For Sale on eBay

Sprague .1uf on the presence pot. Probably NOS though as it is printed Sprague, not SBE.
Can't tell if the other coupling caps are sprague or mallory.

Re: JTM 45 first power up testing

Thanks for the response. I thought the pilot light should stay on, is it normal that it kicked off right away without the tubes installed? It can't be a short because I didn't blow either of my two fuses. There was no smoke, no burning smells, nothing. It just came on and shut off. And I will check...

Re: The Amp that was on Ken's bench when he passed?

Does a pair of Brimar EL-34s and 3 tung sol RI 12AX7s constitute $500 in tubes? From what I understand, Brimar didn't even make EL34s, they generally re-labeled Mullard, RFT, or teslas... Tough to tell from the pictures, but those look pretty similar to the $100/pair of RFT's I have on my bench. Steve

Re: Old Style Din Rececptacle???

Do you mean the 5 pin XLR, as on #124 and other earlier amps? I believe the proper part number is Switchcraft C5F, which can be had from mouser. Pricey though: http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Switchcraft/C5F/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMv0W4pxf2HiV5pmAov1JWUZeysWRerZBII%3d I generally use a neutrik, less costl...

Re: So, What'da Get ?

I got a Sawzall, a new wallet, and a TC Electronic Hall of Fame Reverb.

I got the Mrs. a Taylor 114CE (left handed) acoustic that she had been eyeing.

Fairly quiet christmas for us...our first before our first baby arrives in February.

Re: 1st gen Combo....Rare!

I don't know if this is documented as a 1st gen amp. Tony, did you see something that tipped you off to this being a gen 1? For some reason, I love the silverface chassis with the digital-type font. I may have to design one up and have one fabricated.... Damn, another amp I now need to build. Steve

Re: 1st gen Combo....Rare!

It is number 0014 - 50 Watt
I do believe he bought it, according to his twitter.
I think that puts him up to 3.

He also has a trainwreck named Cybelle. Not sure what model it is though.

Re: Finally going for 100W - advice welcome!

I built a 100W 2nd gen Hybrid a-la jborders layout last winter. Came out killer. Only found 1 minor problem in the layout, there is a slight wiring mistake on the PAB switch. I would up using heyboer iron from mojo, but I used magnetic components twin iron in my first build (#124 clone) and it work...
