Re: Best tubes for the Rocket
I've tried lots of things in my rocket (made by @rawnster), but here is what I like: Amperex holland 12AX7A, in every position. Mullard GZ34. I never thought that would make a difference, but by god it does. 6P14P still kicking 6 years later. I need to go order some backups for all of these, not sur...

Re: Favourite speakers and cabs for Trainwreck amps.
I run an orange 1x12 cab (closed, quality construction) with a Austin Speaker Works Elegante speaker in it. I tried all sorts of stuff and landed on that combo for my Rocket.

Looking for X10 info
So I wanna build an amp. A few years back I came here wanting to build a TW, and ended up buying a fantastic build off of the 'fieds here. I just had some fun rebuilding a friend's pro jr, so that's got me wanting to build from scratch again. I'm looking for something like an Xits X10, a good Naylor...

Re: Anyone have a master volume in their 'Wreck?
I put a ppimv in Rawnster's rocket. I love it. Mainly as I can use it to dial in power tube compression by cranking it up.

Re: Kit Questions
Wow, I never updated this. I did get the bogner cab, but was never happy with it. Then I got an orange 1x12 closed back cab with a v30 in it, which was a little more to my liking. But what I've been using for the last couple of years has been as Austin Speaker Works Elegante (https://www.austinspeak...

Re: New Express Build - Photos Posted
I have to say it was a pleasure working with Mike on this project. And I also must admit I was a bit aprehensive when Mike told me he wanted the cab to be stained blue.. The cabinet is hard Maple and it absorbes stain a bit differently than regular Maple. Because of this the stain brought out sever...

Re: Video of new production Trainwrecks
Ron, I have no doubt that your amp sounds great. :) What have you been building lately bro! Mark I second that. If someone offered me $large sums$ for Ron's rocket, I doubt I'd take it. It's like a parasite growing into my brain... [img:200:199]http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zvniaTOzDsg/TaEF2qJShYI/AAAA...

Re: New Build - Z Wreck Style
Dr. Z I've been very curious about that Z wreck for some time now. I think you've got it priced just right where anyone wanting to clone it wouldn't be doing so to make any money off of it. I've been looking for an amp model to build, and the Z wreck is on my list, but not for financial reasons. If ...

Re: Any interest in trainwreck style cabs?
JTaylor,I think I have enough fiddleback to make cab I would have to dig thorugh my stack and see if i have a single board big enough to wrap all the around the cab and make the valance and faceplate.I wouldn't come of a board like that cheaply though.the finish to show off that fiidleback would be...

Re: Any interest in trainwreck style cabs?
In my dreams I'd go for a bookmatched flamed maple cab. I'm a fiddle player that messes around on guitar, but I've come to love the fiddle woods and finishes. This one is of particular interest to me: http://www.paganini.comune.genova.it/violi_guarneri_immagini_eng.htm Make the front look like the b...

Re: new source for Trainwreck head cabs
FYI, wood stock at home depot is regional. They sell southern yellow pine in FL where I used to live, and it's an extraordinary wood. I've built lots of durable woodworking fixtures (like tables for tools, etc) with it, and it holds up great. Not quite hard as a rock, though. It is high on the stren...

That's all possible, right  Not a good time to skimp - a great sounding amp needs to let out The Tone. If run into/through a crappy li...

This is the TW I fell in love with: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MO_vTzIExQ Can anyone confirm which model it is? What's with that weird guitar cable he's got? ETA: that player rocks. He's got a fun, fluid, bouncy style, and does the EVH without overdoing. Good stuff! Not sure on the cable. That...
