Re: FRONT PANEL MOUNT LED INDICATORS
Here's what I use. They will run on less than 12V also. They have a built in resistor for the LED, so it's as simple as running them to a DC source. The radio shack site has several different colors. https://www.ebay.com/itm/6-X-RadioShack-4mm-Red-LED-Holder-Assembly-With-Resistor-2760270-BULK-PACK-...

Re: RELAY POWER SUPPLY
The switch on the front panel, and the switch in your foot switch, perform the same function in this circuit: shorting the hot and ground together across the diode. If you have both a foot switch and front panel switch, if either one is in the 'shorted' position, then the relay will react as a 'shor...

Re: RELAY POWER SUPPLY
Most of the circuitry in a heater powered relay setup is the AC/DC rectification and filtering. My PCB looks something like the hoffman board with plated holes rather than turrets. https://hoffmanamps.com/MyStore/perlshop.cgi?ACTION=enter&template&thispage=Lamps&ORDER_ID=!ORDERID! https://hoffmanamp...

Re: RELAY POWER SUPPLY
I guess I don't understand the question. Anymore I run my relays off a dedicated DC power supply like the one I linked to. I don't use the heater windings for anything related to the relays. As an example, on my last build, I used a 12V LED indicator light on the front panel for power, and 12V LED's...

Re: RELAY POWER SUPPLY
I use 12V relays typically, and power them with anywhere from 5 to 12 volts with no issues. I've also used the 5V variety, and had no problem using them with 12 volts. It is possible there could be long term issues, but I've been using them for several years now with no issues. From my experience, r...

Re: RELAY POWER SUPPLY
From my experience, relays are pretty tolerant of voltage. A 5 volt relay will work just fine off 9 volts or 12 volts. I'd just get a small cheap 5V supply like this one: https://www.jameco.com/z/RS-15-5-MEAN-WELL-AC-to-DC-Power-Supply-5-Volt-3-Amp-15-Watt_1919043.html AC to regulated DC in a small ...

Re: Are 65 Amps still in business?
That was my understanding....contract build along the lines of what BAD is doing.

Re: Are 65 Amps still in business?
My understanding (from TGP) is that 65 was going to contract with Mojotone to build a few models. This was supposedly mentioned a while back by 65 (or somebody associated with 65) on facebook.

Re: 300 watt output transformers
I built a 200w version a while back. The OT alone weighed 20 lbs. I'll see if I can find a link to it. As an aside, I'm primarily a gigging bass player. The watts/lb ratio for bass amps is much better with the modern SS amps. They sound great, and weigh a few pounds. The one I built was a chiropract...

Re: dual channel design
The schematic you show is a common way to use a relay to switch channels. Use a relay to determine which channel goes to the PI. I don't ground the unused channel, and I've never had any issues. The weber channel switching PCB grounds the unused channel, and it works fine too.

Re: Mixing power tube types?
It's one of each. Cathode Biased. I'm in the middle of a move right now, so no clips. It's an octal plexi, so it's kind of a different cat. I recently built a push-pull amp with one 6V6 and one EL84. Not exactly the same thing, but it's a data point. Sounds great BTW... One 6V6 pair and a one EL84 p...

Re: Eyelet board tools
I just set the board on a brick, and wack the eyelet tool with a hammer. Not pretty, but I've had no complaints about the appearance yet.
