My guess was he liked the taper of the 1M for the vol control, stock was getting low so he saved them for vol pots.
I've only seen 10 maybe 12 Trainwrecks so who knows if there were any other amps with other pots there.

Re: Where to find Trainwreck Logos?
Yeah, no way of knowing for certain but I do think that there was something to it. It looks to me like Franchesca (Express "85") had Clarostat PC style pots throughout where both Ingrid (Express "92") and the Liverpool from Funks images have a mix of Clarostat, PEC and Mil-spec AB's but in similar ...

Re: Where to find Trainwreck Logos?
Yes those photos were on Dave funks website maybe thunderfunk.com but cant seem to find it. Dave was a authorized Trainwreck repair shop and after ken passed Dave decided to spill the beans that he had built Trainwrecks for ken. Would send ken the chassis and ken would tweak them, serial them, heads...

Re: Where to find Trainwreck Logos?
Malou's pots are identical to Ingrid with the exception of the presence pot being a mill spec Clarostat. Anyone know the birth date of Malou? Ingrid 92 and Kitty being older but also uses a AB mill spec middle pot. I think the switch to CTS and AB pots was likely because the first type with the PCB ...

Re: Where to find Trainwreck Logos?
Wow great catch. Never thought to much of the ten turn pot and just figured it was a snubber. I never noticed that ceramic snubber hiding in there! Also, the shielded wire on V1 second stage is plate "grounded". I've never tried this type of shielding but its said to knock off a bunch high frequency...

Re: Where to find Trainwreck Logos?
RockinRocket,Yes both JMP's are the same circuits down to plate voltages, presence/NFB, pot vales etc.. It's been a journey but very enlightening. I apologize for my part in the unintended hijacking of your Logo thread. I have a great interest in continuing the discussion related to everything Trai...

Re: Where to find Trainwreck Logos?
I agree that Ken had a standard circuit with given values and materials that were the basis of the amp models he developed. I also know that my 70 JMP50 doesn't sound the same am my 76 JMP50 even though they are the same circuits. I'm accepting that some of the components in each vary in their actu...

Re: Where to find Trainwreck Logos?
I agree that Kens amps had an abundance of mojo. All that I have heard have been fine sounding amps but a few really stand out to me as what I look for in a Trainwreck. They may not be the examples that are others favorites. Ken built amps for many individuals with the intention of it being an amp ...

Sounds weird to me but I don't think the bias is the issue.

Inserting the flea clips are a real pain if you don't have the vectorboard tool. My first board I made I used a flathead screwdriver, It worked but I damaged a quite a few clips and had to replace them.

Re: Late to the Trainwreck party, gonna build one anyway.
I was referring to the black fiber used by Fender to make boards, which is what I've always known as Garolite. That it's actually a name for G10 is new information to me. No, G10 epoxy board is pretty much waterproof. However, it WILL absorb ethylene gylcol and become conductive, which is (was) an ...

Here is a short video done with my iPhone 3rd build with Heyboer power and output trans. New TubeAmp Doctor / PS Vane EL34’s and JJ 803s 12AX7’s I think pretty close to the mark I compared to recording of my original Express I had in the early 90’s https://youtube.com/shorts/__tE0_6Lq-Y?feature=sha...

Re: Rate the Express output transformers.
Then suppose we buy their declaration at face value, it still doesn't really make sense that the Official Wreck Power Tranny has a 100mA HV tap. That just sorta drives the doubt in my mind that they are really on top of things concerning the specifications. What would a 100ma HV tap do and is that ...
