rockster tonestack question
On the schematic for the Rockster 66, one end of the bass pot is grounded but on the layout I found, the bass pot has no ground connection. Which is the best way or correct way?

Matchless Cathode Bias El34 resistor choice
So here is another question on my Cathode Bias El34 project. I've been researching different EL34 Cathode biased amps and noticed that the 1k screen resistors in the Matchless stuff are rated for 12watts. Are they that big because cathode bias puts more screen current than fixed or is it just over s...

Re: Singe Channel Plexi pre
Thanks for the replies guys! I'll mess around with the cathode and see what I like. I will probably have some more questions soon.

Singe Channel Plexi pre
If I'm going for a single channel plexi style pre, what needs to be done with the mixing resistors. Do I keep the volume control- 470k- next tube grid? Or do I need to add a 470k to ground where the old channel would have connected? Also on V1, would it be possible to do a single input with a common...

Re: Cathode Biased EL34s, Transformers?
Cool. So if I wanted less chime and more brown would I move closer to 6k or down to 3.4k?

Cathode Biased EL34s, Transformers?
Wanting to build a Cathode biased 2x EL34 based amplifier. I am wondering about transformers. I am in love with the Dynaco A470 in My 4xEl84 build, but I'm guessing a 6.6k OT would be better? Maybe a Marshall JTM45 or Express style OT would be best? What about PT, want to use a GZ34, standard TW sty...

Re: Anyone using a 5v4 or 5u4 in their Rocket build?
The 5v4 sounds great! Also have a older Weber Copper Cap that was made to replace a GZ34 with a 20% voltage drop. It also sounds nice. Thanks guys!

Anyone else? Is using 1 5v4 in full power mode ok or do I need 2 5v4s?

Re: Rocket Cut control placment
Would a alpha mini 250k pot be too small for the cut control?

Re: Rocket Cut control placment
Wanted to try the domino caps, I know Alessandro likes them. I bought them on eBay. Not quite a exact clone but close. I would like to add a High/low voltage switch but the only place I may be able to put it is next to the OT. Would that cause any problems?

Rocket Cut control placment
Ran out of room on the front on the amp for the Cut control. Is this control very substitutable noise or hiss? If you look at the picture, I'm thinking about putting it between the cathode bias cap/resistor and the switch on the right. Should this be ok? The switch on the left is for half power, the...

Cool, my tranny's 5V rating is 5A so should be golden.

Anyone using a 5v4 or 5u4 in their Rocket build?
Looking at option due to the high prices of decent vintage GZ34s. Dropping
more voltage than a GZ34 would not be a bad thing. I have some nice
RCA 5V4s. Will that work? I read in the Trainwreck manual that the Recto could be substituted in the Rocket. I have the Mojo TW power Tranny.
Thanks!

Re: PPIMV and cut in rocket, can u have both?
so with the Larmar, do I just wire the cut control on the master out and grid resistor junction?
Also can you put a 100pf fizz cap on the rocket?
Thanks

Re: PPIMV and cut in rocket, can u have both?
What version of the PPIMV are you guys doing. I have a 500k dual pot.
I attached the version I am thinking about. Would the cut go after the dual pot before the 1 caps in this schematic or after the 1uf caps next to the 220ks?
Suggested values for a Rocket for the MV?
