Re: Hybrid 3rd-4th Gen Non-HRM Low Plate Classic...

I am curious. What is "Low Plate Classic" about this amp? It looks like a 3rd generation with a OD master and presence. A classic tone stack is 330pf(treble), .047(mid) and .1(bass). CW Great Question Charlie - and one of those corrections that I was asking for! I was following the "Generic 3rd Gen...

Re: Hybrid 3rd-4th Gen Non-HRM Low Plate Classic...

All,

Another thing I just noticed looking at the Period Correct 3rd Gen layout from Tony (again) is that I completed the passive loop with a return jack.

I also should have credited Mark Roberts (mdroberts1243) with creating the original schematic to accompany Tony's layout.

Re: Hybrid 3rd-4th Gen Non-HRM Low Plate Classic...

BTW - the main board layout is to scale. I used it as my template to drill the main eyelet board. HOWEVER the mounting holes (in the 4 corners) are not to any scale - or particular location. So - you would want to make those to match your hardware and chassis (or the other way around - of course). -...

Hybrid 3rd-4th Gen Non-HRM Low Plate...

All, Not sure if this will be of any interest or use to others, but here are the documents that I have created in the process of creating my 3rd-4th Gen Hybrid that I just finished. These may contain errors, but I believe they accurately reflect the amp that I built - as I built it. It's mostly the ...

Re: Opinions on the Fuchs Plush Verbrator?

It's just another thing to take along with your equipment. It can be a PIA. I've noticed even Robben Ford now doesn't use his Dumbleator and has everything in front of the amp on his pedal board. Makes life a lot simpler. Joey Landreth borrowed one of my amps and he put everything in front too didn...

Opinions on the Fuchs Plush Verbrator?

All, This seems like this may belong under the "Dumbleator Settings and advice" thread, but starting new thread - my apologies if this has been thoroughly discussed previously. I was just wondering what builders/players (that have used - or heard) thought of the "Fuchs Verbrator" as a ready-made Dum...

Great that you saved that bit of musical history. And made her better than new.

That is fantastic. Wish I could hear what she sounds like.

Re: Help needed - starting up inspired by #102 build

WoW!

That looks really nice!

I also agree about the cleans. I just finished my first build over the weekend and played it some last night. The cleans are great. And EVERYTHING that you do with the left and right hands comes through the amp.

Re: New build debug...

Looks great Paul! I like what you did with those cathode resistors. Thanks Taylor! I'll take that as extra high praise coming from you. I played it a little this evening and I was surprised how articulate that rascal is. That was using a Marshall JCM900 combo as the speaker cab (2xG12T-75...

Here are the final build pics - including one in the beautiful head-shell built by Taylor at Amplified Nation. I have an EVM-12L waiting on a matching single 12 cab. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/fkkDgsYYdIrrc1vvd3nhmqikxKcR5g5nV43VnTO2_9pVSi1O5vr9mzJeyXCQ42z-H1k90cu-_1f2Z3kGRh7HtPNwofaWWZyu_ZYa...

I take it (from your mV reference) that your 43 is measuring total cathode current.?.?

Re: New build debug...

all the 6L6 Dumble builds I've done all seem to bias around the 43mv mark. So much so that's what I aim for now when powering up and just tweak from there. Bear in mind even with so called matched valves there can still be ~5 mv difference in valves so you have to have a happy average anyway, it's ...

Re: New build debug...

So - I settled on a 1.8K "pre-diode" resistor value. The resistor to ground off of the trim pot is the original 27K. That gives me a bias voltage range of -41.5 to -54.8 I was able to get My "tube A" right on target dissipation (40.3 mA) with -44.35 bias voltage on pin 5. So, I could go some hotter ...

Gotcha. I'll run a few iterations and post what I settle on.

Thanks!
