What he said! Going through much the same thing right now. "Illegitimi non carborundum." Don't let the b*starts grind you down. Be ornery enough to keep on keeping on, and best of luck to you.

I'm sorry to hear this, too. His site was one of my introductions to amp building. RIP.

Re: Do not order from Wattstubeaudio

Darn. I hate to hear this. I used to order from him from time to time. If you haven't tried Wattkins Amp Forum's Typeface.com store, they offer 2 sizes of chassis at reasonable prices (12.25" x 6.875" x 2.75" for $40, and breaks for multiple orders, and 16" x 8" x 2.5" for $50. The smaller one has p...

A big hand for lovely wives! They make us even better. Or at least keep us from wandering the streets aimlessly.

Re: Home Baked Real Bread!

Doing my usual aimless stumbling around the interwaste this past weekend informs me that my unglazed tiles are the stuff of misguided peasants, and that if I wish to be an enlightened baker, I need a sheet of steel to measure up. Which they will gladly sell me. Since I do not possess the Golden Pala...

Re: This is why you're screwed if a chimp attacks you...

It's good that many Bigfoot sightings are in OR and WA. If the big guy is availing himself of the local herberies, maybe he'll be more laid back. I'm allergic to having my bones ground.

Re: Home Baked Real Bread!

I use my 2 cast iron dutch ovens for most of the types of bread I bake. The 1rst 1/2 hour with the lid on takes care of the moisture. I do sourdough, too, and just found a sourdough kalamata olive, rosemary and red pepper flake recipe online that all my lab rats, er, I mean friends and family swear ...

Re: Why is this so much?

Ebay and CL work on "The Greater Fool" Theory. And remember, even if what I'm selling is mundane and regularly available, it's worth way above high retail because I owned it. It's therefore special. Bleah!

Re: How did you get into tube gear?

Yep, I remember the tube tester at the grocery store. I started playing guitar on my dad's much abused 30s vintage plywood archtop. In seventh grade, I got my first electric, a 63 Gretsch Corvette single pickup with Bigsby, and a Gretsch 2X10 amp. I never messed with the amp. Later I bought a Vox Es...

Re: How to loose $125,000 in 10 min.

Back in 82, I was living in Summit County, CO, and one day it sounded like every piece of fire apparatus in the entire county was mobilized. Being a comedy legend in my own mind, I said, "Wouldn't it be funny if that was ____ ?" Condos we were involved with over in Keystone. Wouldn't you know it, it...
