Next up?
The Microplex is sounding great still. Dana, are you still contemplating a subminiature AC30 as well? I'd like to build one of those too!

Re: 2Watt Sub Miniature Plexi
Hello Dana, My amp is still chugging along fine and sounds great. I still owe the community the sounds (of my bad playing) through a 4x8 and a 1x12 cab, just to see what the 4x8 sounds like. I haven't been able to go in yet and make the fix to the PI stage. When I do that, I might make a couple swit...

Re: Issue with hum
Hi All, I've got mine up and running, though I have excessive 60Hz hum. I've tried wiring the grounds in various ways to no avail. Hum goes away the instant I turn the power off, so I am thinking it's a wiring issue. Has anyone successfully finished their build without hum? If so, care to share how...

Re: 2Watt Sub Miniature Plexi
Hey that looks sweet! I've been running mine through my 4x12 loaded with 70s greenbacks. it's an old vox 4x12 design with a port across the back so it's not sealed but still has a good chunky bottom end. I am also running it through a EV TL806 1x12 ported cab loaded with a Fane Medusa 150 (103db 1w...

Re: 2Watt Sub Miniature Plexi
The Microplex is setup for 8 ohms. I have looked at adding a tap but its rough trying to get it down to the size it is and still keep the tone. I can have one built for 16 or 4 ohm but too many taps would alter the physical size of the tranny and require a lot of work to get it to fit on the board ...

Re: 2Watt Sub Miniature Plexi
I think it's 8 ohms, that's what I've been using. But I'll defer to Dana for the final answer.

Re: 2Watt Sub Miniature Plexi
Thanks! That's another good tip for the plastic that I'll have to try. I may actually try that to fill in some of the gaps that occured with my less than stellar trimming job. Also, Dana, am I correct in that the OT can't be wired for a 16 ohm output? I'm interested in maybe making it have a 16 ohm...

Re: 2Watt Sub Miniature Plexi
Hello Dana, Just curious what the fix in the PI area is and whether you've had a chance to test it. Bryan Hi Brian There is an error on the board with the connection of the 2 1 meg resistors on the PI. First I want to publically thank Lou JassGuitarGimp for finding the error. The 2 1 meg resistors ...

Re: 2Watt Sub Miniature Plexi
Yup, built it out of 3/4 in marine-grade ply. It's definitely herky. If I remember, I can scan the measurements I used to cut the lumber.LeftyStrat wrote:Did you build the 4x8? I've been thinking a 4x8 would be nice.

Re: 2Watt Sub Miniature Plexi
Neato! If you want to make your plastic logo stick together at break points use a paper backing and even consider using a dremel to create a small channel between parts to glue in a stiff piece of wire if the paper isn't working by itself. You have to flow some superglue there and trim/clean the ed...

Re: 2Watt Sub Miniature Plexi
skyclmbr, congratulations on your great results!!! I would love to see some photos of your amp as well as the 4x8 setup. This sounds way too cool. I always wanted to build something like that to go with my Lil' Devil but never got around to doing it. A MicroPlex full stack with 2 4x8 cabs would be ...

Re: 2Watt Sub Miniature Plexi
Guys Got a PM about R32 being listed twice in the BOM. It should be a 470 ohm. Also been getting questions on the resistors for the PS board. I have included a pic of the populated PS board to try and help. Lou also found another small problem with the board in the PI area. I will address this shor...
