Re: SE Rocket build - The Wrong Horse Amp
Thanks guys! Appreciated! ... changed the first coupling cap to 0.01uF ... I think I can ear that ... 8) (& love it too) How about the DC heaters: way less hum, or just slight improvement? One more thing I've always been curious about: with comparable voltages, "your" resistor value for the power tu...

Re: SE Rocket build - The Wrong Horse Amp
While this has been brought back - I took it out of the box and did some further tweaks, changed the first coupling cap to 0.01uF to pass a bit more low/mid end, changed the power tube grid stopper to 5.6K, and converted the heater supply to DC. Sounds even better (to me at least). Also tested an ex...

Re: Express Hammond Iron
Or you can go 2 x EL84 - Rocket or Liverpool, or 2 x 6V6 Express path.
Admittedly, it will be different Express

Ahh ... didn't see this.leadfootdriver wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 1:54 am This thing is awesome. It sounds like it can get gainy without the cops showing up..
Any updates or new recordings with this?!?!
Not really, but may look to do something in the following weeks.
With an efficient speaker, it can be quite grumpy

Re: Benson Monarch
150mA is more than enough.
I’d also look to spec the 5V for 3A, so it can handle most popular rectifier tubes. Gives room for experimenting.

Re: Very Small Special
I surely have missed it as well, but this is super nice and sounds great! I put 3 different nfb resistors on a switch in my Small Special, along with some other taste related mods. It does deliver the goods once you reduce the nfb and put it through the right speaker. As for triode/pentode combos - ...

Re: ODS 124 - revisited for the 21C
Using same suppliers here. And Savino Luce for the transformers. Dumble chassis and boards - Erwin (erwin_ve) sells very high quality ones. Niki Hi Niki Thanks for the suggestions, Savino Luce no longer responds to my emails and at the suggestion of Sergio Assolari of Clover Amp I turned to an Ital...

Re: Benson Monarch
Slightly less involved demo of my build. Just a clean guitar and a small lead in the second part. Reverb from the amp. Haar telecaster only. Low output pickups. So versatile and great sounding amp. I’m enjoying it a lot. Waiting for the Celestion G12H30 cab and will post on it as well. Niki https://...

This bleed seems to be expected, looking at how the reverb is connected and mixed back.

Re: Benson Monarch
You're both of course right and that's my bad - apologies - I am all the time talking standard anode coupled stage, while looking at a cathode follower...like hundred times while building it - idiot me. Kids started going to school again so might get my focus back with just the day job :) Still it s...

Re: Benson Monarch
Well... then it is correct.
I think that I went through most of the thread, but I haven't seen that stated by Mr. Benson
Still think that xFB is a better fit for the circuit and intend to keep it.
EB are more suitable for op-amp (~TL072) driven circuits.
To each its own I guess.

Re: Benson Monarch
Thanks for posting. Enjoyed the Soundcloud. Thanks :) Interesting that you are using an xFBxxx tank, as I am. I ordered the "correct" xEBxxx, it should be here in a few days. I don't really see how xEB is "correct"? Swart amplifiers use very similar (if not the same) reverb arrangement with xFB, Tr...

Re: Benson Monarch
Here's the lovely, unpolished mess. Didn't really had a layout, just put the three strips next to the preamp tubes and went with the schematic. It is dead silent, no buzz, hum or whatsoever with what is a pretty much standard grounding. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51183823742_4c95d610fe_z.jp...
