I agree that: building an amp you don't want to own......because it will be easy......is a bad idea.
You can do it........it will be overwhelming at first..........but then you'll have something that almost no one else has!!!

Re: EDCOR OT & PT Anyone have Try ?
20210414_163651.jpg I decided to bite the bullet and order a set last year.....I ordered a XPWR014 120/240 and a CXPP30-MS-6.6K for a rocket build I recall it did not take 8 weeks to receive.....i think closer to 5 1/2 weeks.YMMV Really happy with how they sound......price was awesome also............

Re: Rocket PT issues discovered during troubleshooting
Yes, an intermittent grounding issue was causing the strange behavior....I apologize for the really dumb questions......my skills have grown by leaps and bounds , thanks to TAG. But despite that..... I have huge gaps in my knowledge, that I am working to close.....I have books....I watch uncle Doug ...

Rocket PT issues discovered during troubleshooting
All, I am seeing a very strange issue, while troubleshooting my Rocket build, here is a rundown: Amp was with built with RJ supplied aluminum reverse chassis, RJ-PAC-PTW and A470 transformers - after completing the build, I had an issue with very low output from the amp, at every setting, all contro...

Re: Rocket Documents Discussion
Kits are how I got started, along the way I discovered TAG......then learned about wrecks and rockets......I feel the fact that you must gather all the parts for a rocket yourself........is the best part!! To me it meant i was becoming a real builder and it felt good to build something based on what...

Re: New rocket build - low volume issue
Mark, Thanks for the link, but I managed to get some 220uf 100v that were right on the money, and I got one installed now. I have now been over this amp numerous times, checking and tightening grounds and lugs, I actually have broken a couple in the process and had to replace them ( so I know I am g...

Re: New rocket build - low volume issue
I have been working on correcting these issues, I have flipped the 220 uf capacitor around, tightened all nuts and bolts, then went around the entire amp, re-soldering connections very generously. During this re-soldering, I think I realized the root cause for all my grounding issues, which is a 6 i...

New rocket build - low volume issue
Hey guys, I have finally made it into "the rocket club" by finishing my most recent build, using a set of boards, transformers and a reverse chassis from RJ. I used the "Mike" layout from the rocket docs section here at TAG. So, the amp sounds killer, and sounds just how it was described on TAG........

Re: Fender Express Creation
I have diode strings on my express.......I thought they did not affect tone and were for OT insurance only.... Is the fizzy sound described above......."diode clipping" ?? I read here on TAG, that someone put their diode strings on a switch, and they very much preferred the sound of NO diodes..........

Re: Reducing gain in a wreck?
Huge thanks to all who responded!!! I managed to scrounge up a 12AT7 that was branded "Randall" of all things, from my junk box. This alone got me in the ballpark...... Additionally, I am inclined to agree that the express is probably the wrong amp for this.......... however I plan to experiment, wi...
