Re: Small Special with Merlin effects loop

I don't know if these schematics are correct? These are some that I saved sometime ago. They may not be accurate? with respect, 10thtx Both ones can work. C3 cap in the FXLoop circuit should be of much lower value. I would use a 2,2uF non electrolytic and low voltage one where the low freq. corner ...

Re: John Mayer Signature New Build with Reverb Issue

There is something calling my attention in this schematic. I mean all those resistors, one after the other, between V1B plate and V4B grid. I doesn't look correct. The 68k resistor should be connected after the 1M one, I think, to implement an attenuator of around 24db plus some more by the local nf...

Re: Inductor in Dumble SSS amps

Thanks you for pointing out that there are errors Mabtuk. Is there a diagram without errors on this site? I don't really know. There are some obvious mistakes like the volume pot which should be 1M instead of 100k or the 1k resistors at the mix cathode followers which should be 100k each. There are...

Re: understanding the basic SSS circuit concept

..Since the send is off the follower (low impedance) this also helps to drive any outboard gear you put in the loop I don't think you can take any advantage out of the followers low impedance to drive the loop since it is placed miles away from them. You have a 220k resistor at least and then 1M po...

Re: Inductor in Dumble SSS amps

The logical conclusion there is that it is not in the location shown in the schematics posted here. I'm sure there are some here who know the details, but they aren't talking. I had a few of these SSS clones and all of them had the inductor located in the place we know. They were brought to me in o...

Re: Inductor in Dumble SSS amps

The logical conclusion there is that it is not in the location shown in the schematics posted here. I'm sure there are some here who know the details, but they aren't talking. I don`t think it is even important since any inductor within an EQ circuit implies a rather narrow action due to the high o...

Re: Inductor in Dumble SSS amps

What you describe may be a more efficient way to get a similar result, but in the original I don't think replacing any of the components with a wire would result in no effect at all as is the case with the inductor in the filter circuit. The inductor I say has a value of 1H or less and is connected...

Re: Inductor in Dumble SSS amps

I know Ampeg circuits from the seventies or even before that were using one or more inductors in their EQ circuits but in those cases they had a specific and useful job to do. I don´t think that one is the only component doing nothing in SSS amps since you have three, 3 complete double triode valves...

Inductor in Dumble SSS amps

There is an inductor at the Hi-Low filters section of SSS Dumble amps. Does anyone really know what is the job of that component? I have been testing it and could find no difference at all either with or without the inductor. How many other components are in Dumble amps to just pay for them and doin...

Re: understanding the basic SSS circuit concept

I have made one that works and sounds the same with the advantage that you save two preamp valves,
plus their circuit and componentes, and also have a proper FXLoop.

Re: understanding the basic SSS circuit concept

I will try to answer in the way I better can or know. 1. The fact of using 2 triodes or 4 in order to mix both dry and wet signal is just an option. Another option equally valid is by using just only one triode 2. The point where to take the signal sample from in order to trigger the reverb tank is ...
