Re: Demeter TGP-3?

I get what you're saying and don't disagree with it. However, it doesn't seem ethical for me to post it when he's still clearly in the business of making them. He's approachable and friendly and his gear isn't outrageously expensive, especially considering that he's still going to great lengths to ...

Re: Demeter TGP-3?

My theory on the issue is that specific circuitry and sound quality is far less important than brand and notoriety and it's assessed value in the retail/second hand market. This circuit sitting inside of a Ceriatone chassis built by some random Diy'er isn't going to turn it into a $3000 amp, what ma...

Re: Demeter TGP-3?

I'm making one and for now, I've decided to keep it to myself. James is still in business and is selling them, albeit slowly, so it doesn't seem right to publish the schematic. At the time I started the layout of the TGA and published what I had, his site stated that it was discontinued and putting...

Here's the Effects Loop section:

And a cleaner version of the preamp schematic without component values (for the sake of clarity):

Re: Manzamp!

Awesome, thank you Gainzilla! I will give these options a shot (the free Inkscape one first, my funds getting tighter as xmas nears  ) Although I do have adobe 'creative cloud' somewhere on my PC but I doubt it's the fully featured one your talking about.

Re: Manzamp!

I remember this thread from near it's beginning and the thing which impressed me the most was how ic-racer took this one picture: http://personalpages.manchester.ac.uk/staff/rob.livesey/dumble/Manzamp/manzamp02.jpg .... and turned it into a verifiable schematic. This to me is beyond amazing and I'd ...

Re: Ingrid Vector Board with T42-1 Push-In Terminals. Mouser

small cut-off finish nails as my 'turrets' Oh, that is MacGyver as all get out! Macguyver was my nickname in my gigging days, lol! But yeah, it was definitely an unorthodox solution but it worked well (and still continues to work in a number of amps I built from that era, which at this point is 10 ...

Re: Ingrid Vector Board with T42-1 Push-In Terminals. Mouser

I've got a question; what type of turret/metal inserts are most of you guys using with this type of perf-board? I know KF used those little 'fork' like inserts, but by all indication these are no longer available. I actually started out building amps on perf-board with small cut-off finish nails as ...

Adding a Bias Control to SSS#002 CF Driver?

Hi guys, I've come up with a project for myself that isn't specifically a Dumble but rather one important aspect of the output section was inspired by hanging out on this forum whenever I need a break from the high gain world; that is to use the Dumble style cathode follower driver with a Boogie Mar...

Re: Transformer Placement and the Effect on Tone....?

So I did the 'headphone trick' and I am absolutely stunned at it's results....... It turns out that the arrangement used by Ken Fischer is the quietest position, despite both transformers being within inches of each other! This arrangement was pretty much as quiet as placing the OT far from the PT. ...

Re: Transformer Placement and the Effect on Tone....?

Thanks for the responses guys; this was exactly the sort of feedback I was hoping for asking the Trainwreck forum as opposed to any of the more technical ones. Ken Fischer's methodology sometimes did defy 'logic', but it cannot be argued that the end result of that effort was superior for it. I'm gl...

Re: Transformer Placement and the Effect on Tone....?

I can't imagine how you could influence the end "tone" of the amp by transformer placement, other than by making it worse due to the hum you can introduce by POOR placement. Read up on the "headphone trick" for transformer placement and orientation. You can literally listen to the results as you mo...

Transformer Placement and the Effect on Tone....?

I figure I'll ask you Trainwreck guys about this considering Ken Fischer was well known to put the power and output transformers very close to one another...... I am in the process of putting together a Marshall style amp (multi channel with some hi-gain sounds) which I am aiming to have the feel of...
