Re: New source for ODS boards?

Hi guys, I may be able to help with the main board and the power supply board. Doug, all of the boards could be high quality, thick (0.125") G10 eyelet boards except the switching boards, which are too small and need IC sockets for the relays. Apparently there is a good source for these (look a few...

Re: New source for ODS boards?

Jason @ AGB told me he thought they were out of relay boards too. There are a few differences between the AGB and Marsh boards, based only on website images of the Marsh boards: * AGB FET and two small power supply boards are PCBs and have insulating backing boards for close mounting on the chassis ...

Re: New source for ODS boards?

I strongly prefer the "old" power supply, think about replacing filter caps in the future!

I'll check out the Marsh Amp boards, thanks.

New source for ODS boards?

June 7, 2015 I just tried to order a set of boards for another ODS clone project using a CE Pedals chassis, but Jason Borders at AGB Amps informed me that he's out of main boards and doesn't plan on making more. Is there another source for ODS boards that fit the CE Pedals ODS chassis? I'm not in cr...

Re: For anyone wanting to set the PI Trim pot

I just installed a 22k pot in the phase inverter of my 50W Dumble-ish project (using a Bassman 50 chassis), with 100k resistors going to the two PI plates from the ends of the pot. I checked the 12AX7 PI tube for gain balance and the triodes are very close, and I checked the EL34 output tubes as wel...

Parts list, anyone?

Has anyone made a parts list for this build - hopefully one with a description of the resistor and capacitor types to clearly distinguish them for ordering?

Re: Express mod to lower gain

I'm wondering whether anyone has installed the TW master volume and, if so, does it maintain the core sound? (The TW master volume is a dual 1M potentiometer that controls the level of the input to the output tube grids from the phase inverter plates. A standard MV simply reduces the input to the ph...

DHL = Drops Heavy Loads :D I am impressed with Nik's response. He seems willing to do battle with DHL.

Re: Express fini at last!

I think UR12 had some factory perf material, but later had to drill the holes himself. Hey, someone's gotta do it!! Good luck on your quest for the right stuff.

Boards

The boards were made by UR12 on this forum. I would like another set or two for future amps, but I haven't heard him volunteer to make more. If you want to build an Express, you can buy a very nice set of unperforated G10 boards with turrets from Nik (in Malaysia, IIRC). Nik has a business website b...

Clips? Only paper ones... but thanks for the comments. Yes, I've been building tube equipment for decades and amps in particular for about 11 years (King Amplifier Co.).

Re: Express fini at last!

There's an earlier post with a discussion about how this and other people's Express clones sound. The 6V6s are a great choice too, so try them. I've been playing through a 4x12 with Celestion blues, and I gotta try G12H30s and V30s too.

Express fini at last!

At last I found a cabinet for my TW Express clone. I picked up this maple cabinet from Allyn, who might have others for sale in the future. With careful measurements, I managed to install the chassis without any real problems. :D I used a set of boards from UR12 and Nik's chassis. [IMG:640:480]http:...

Re: That great Express and...hiss

It's funny, but I would have recommended 12AX7EH tubes for low noise in general. With today's tubes, you have to investigate each one for noise and microphonics and select the few that have the best characteristics. I just bought a quantity of 12AX7EH, 12AX7LPS and 12AX7WB tubes and tested each one....
