Re: I bought a solid walnut apartment. Uh, speaker cabinet.

Like every horizontal surface around here, a collection of doo-dads has gathered atop. That's not some rando collection, that's a finished instrument, an Apprehension Engine, for making scary noises for this Halloween's production of Rocky Horror Picture Show! OH we're gonna have to hear some of th...

Re: Princeton reverb 12at7 voltage is inconvenient.

All those Fenders that run their reverb drive at full whack and beyond - you don't really need that. Run your 12AT7 off whatever power supply's in the amp and get on with life. Should the notion of not thrashing the reverb quite so hard appeal to you, try this. To further reduce drive to almost sane...

Re: Peak Boomer Nonsense incoming

OW! My eyes! OW! My ears! Ohh please make it stop - first thing in the morning isn't the right time for this. Miles strikes again. "The gut shots would be like slicing Grimace open." Oh noes, doesn't it have Cherman prezizion built drive train, surrounded with Body By Ghia? Or did they resurrect one...

Re: I bought a solid walnut apartment. Uh, speaker cabinet.

Miles is right, get it up off the floor a bit. I know you get some extra bass oomph having a cab slap on the deck like that. I reckon you'll find some happy spot where the sound reaches your ears better than your ankles, and still have plenty of rumble. A low bench of some sort. All the better to fe...

Re: Some people are so disgrateful

This is what inspires great song writing. Get to work! You got hit material here. By golly You're right leo. I've already got a title. i think will make a good chorus too. I call it "so I killed that bitch" then in parentheses (all night with a rusty knife) Crowd's gonna join in on that chorus - yo...

Fox gets some of my groundhogs. Those right-wing fake news cocksuckers ! That's infuriating. Taking food out of hard working Americans mouths. … if the shareholders are Blackrock then you can bet $ its “fake news” … uh oh , did I pry the lid off the can of worms ? 8) I meant the animal, we ha...

Re: Vox-style grillcloth patented | legal issues?

Makes one wonder, what sort of dialog may have taken place between Vox (or whoever owns them at any given moment) and Mr. Dumble. LOTS of Dumbles with Vox grill cloth! I have a feeling he used his awesome command of language to inform Vox to GFY, and it must have worked.

In the 90's one of my frequent flyer customers was School of Crafty Guitarist instructor Matte Henderson, living at the time in rural territory north of Woodstock and Bearsville NY. Some outta this world playing out of him! Had I been in the right place at the right time, could have met up with Craf...

Re: Figured some of yall might enjoy this

I'd recommend "The Royal Scam" for starters, and Becker's solo album "11 tracks of Whack." The Royal Scam title track is an absolute gem, awesome production. The band track seems as if it could have been used in soundtrack for a dark spy suspense thriller film hit. Dire piano part along with an unu...

Re: Do I really need a tube rectifier? Lazy amp tech's journey

I wouldn't go tube rectifier in a build. Unreliability, compared to silicon rectifiers, that's enough of a convincer for me. Been replacing way too many GZ34 over the last 20 years or so. JJ's were OK for a while then QC on those went to blazes. Maybe they're better now but I got stung and not anxio...

More on the modern updated Gibson managed Mesa here. Geeze I was thinkin' about becoming a Mesa dealer 30ish years ago when the buy-in was a whopping 20 grand. Glad I didn't go there. A store carrying Mesa popped up only a mile away. Let them have the headaches. https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/...
