Ampeg B15 preamp: Drive balanced transformer from PI?
I'd like to build a bass preamp for recording purposes. Loads of options, but the style of amp that appeals to me most is the Ampeg B15 portaflex/fliptop. A lot of info on the web suggests that much of the B15 "magic" happens in the phase inverter section. Any suggestions as to the best method of de...

Re: Fuchs casinoline boost... Not PAB?
Yeah, I know the PAB is good for some people, but one guy that played the d'lite I built wasn't so keen on loosing the stack. Funny you mention the tail resistor - just after I posted this I was looking at a Bluesmaster schematic and noted a switched 72k tail resistor used there. The pot idea is a g...

Fuchs casinoline boost... Not PAB?
Stumbled on this the other day while investigating low watt power sections. The fuchs 4 aces has a boost that doesn't work like the standard Dumble pab in that the tone stack is still connected. Anyone care to suggest how it's being done? My first thought was switching cathode bypass cap values...

Re: What to do with this old Marshall/Peavey...
If you figure out the intermittent problem you could sell it for around $500. You could get 2 or 3 decent donor amps for that much. Not around here in the current climate... £250/$400 tops, but i take your point. I also have a Peavey Encore 65 combo - same question. What would you build with it? Th...

What to do with this old Marshall/Peavey...
I recently acquired a Marshall JCM900 SL-X 50 watt head in a non-funtional state. It cost me next to nothing, I spent a short time getting it up and running, but I really don't care for how it sounds and there's still an intermittent crackling fault somewhere. As it stands I wouldn't want to sell it...

Re: UK chassis supplier?
Hi Mike,
Not looking a totally custom chassis, but one that'd fit the bill for a d'lite build. Some of your Marshall clone chassis could be pretty close, only needing a few extra holes drilled. I'll chuck an email your direction shortly.
Cheers

Re: mesa studio 22 with eq
You might be pleasantly surprised. I'm half way through a scratch build at the minute (6L6 D'lite - all parts now purchased) and it's working out cheaper than I was expecting.jestaudio wrote:the scratch build is far more than a mere mortal living in the uk can affaord at the moment
