Re: John Mayer’s 50 watt ODS

I can’t help you on what’s inside, but I can say it sounded magnificent live a few weeks back!

Re: Where are U.K. people buying wire?

Hi Craig,

Tried to send you a PM - still stuck in my outbox I think…

Do you still have wire to sell?

Re: Donor amps in the UK

I also picked up a Smarvo. I had never heard of them, apparently also sold as a Divinity Ashton (never heard of that, either!). Best I could find online is that it's some sort of copy of a modern Marshall. 100w 2x12, 4xEL34. Two channels - clean with boost, overdrive with two different gain settings...

Re: Fender The Twin Red Knob reconstructed

Where was this thread six months ago??? Looks great :) I bought one of these just before Christmas, very cheaply, broken. A lot of the power tube wiring was missing, and three of the main filter caps had failed open. Lots of ground issues and dodgy wiring (the multicore stuff they used seems to be p...

Any ideas on this g12t-75?

Hi all, I bought an amp - a Smarvo (No, I’d never heard of it either) - but for £21 I couldn’t pass it up. It’s a 2x12 combo, and the speakers are marked “g12t-75” so I immediately thought Celestion, but they don’t look like Celestion baskets. They sound just fine, but I was just wondering if anyone...

Re: Where are U.K. people buying wire?

Thanks Craig. I spotted that on my trawl. How do you find it? I have aspirations of some ultra-neat lead dress a la Milkman, Roft, etc. The right wire must be part of that (like… 10%. I’m
Sure The best builders on here could make anything neat…)

Re: Where are U.K. people buying wire?

Thanks. One of the first places I looked - but their Ptfe wire is 22awg, their solid wire is 26awg, and their heaviest is only 20awg. It really is hard to find here…

Where are U.K. people buying wire?

I have searched but most entries are quite old and as I’m sure a lot of U.K. people have found, many small shops have closed in recent years and Brexit makes ordering from the EU just worse. This will sound very picky, but then this isn’t really the forum for thrown-together mediocrity! I’m trying t...

Re: Donor amps in the UK

Thanks. I saw those. I think the Wem is solid state. The Selmer is a totally unknown quantity to me. It might be great. But I suppose my point is more than lots that has been written about donor amps assume we can all find broken Fender Twins for not much money, and that's really not the case in the...

Donor amps in the UK

Hi all, Long time lurker. I've dug through many threads via the search about donor amps, what HAD used, etc. - but a lot of it is (completely understandably) both US-centric, and refers to amps that may have been more available and affordable ten years ago. In the UK, based on my searches, finding s...
