Re: stackocaps and transformer bolts question
Hi Jim. Is your chassis the standard size for an Express? The stack should fit between the power tranny and the preamp board. I used a 50/50 and a 40/20/20/20 cap cans on my newest Express. You could also use a little board and some standoffs to hold the caps. I don’t know how authentic you want to ...

Re: Express tube socket location
Hiya. Google “trainwreck express gut shots” you can see pictures and go from there. If your board isn’t to wide you should be good. Short wire runs are important to keep hiss low.
I think my board was 2 1/4 inches wide
Good luck..

Re: Princeton reverb build in a trainwreck chassis
Nice Marcus! - love the bassy sound.
I just built a Princeton Reverb too a month ago (head unit), and love it. I'm using it with a Texas Heat Speaker for now
.. I gotta get me one of those Ditto loopers.

Re: Liverpool to Rocket?
I finished my Liverpool last week and, it has too much gain. I didn’t think I would ever say that but It sounds awesome on 2 and my guitars on 3 or so, but anything after that ....whoa... I have some work to do on it, I put In a MV but it sucks...it’s ok on my attenuator but I still need to tweak it...

Re: Building Trainwreck Amp as first amp
When I started building , I think I built a lightning and didn’t like it. So I went and built an Express from junk I had. The amp ended up sounding like junk. I built a lot of amps since then, and a few months ago, I did an Express round 2. I should post my build but I never got around to it. But th...

Re: Placement of power section components in rebuild
Good luck with your build.
What size is the chassis?
The way Steve laid out his components is top notch, if you can imitate that you would be well off.
Or look at other pictures of Marshall type amps to get an idea.
Yeah pictures will be good...
Peace.

good to know you found the trouble - did you see sluckeys comment about the cathode bias resistor was also backwards?

The bypass cap on the output tubes is also connected backwards.
