Re: Lee Jackson videos
Does anyone know if this is a Lee Jackson modified amplifier?

My Rockman Modular Head build
I did a lot of recording back in the 80's using a TS9 into a Rockman Sustainor + Chorus/Delay.

It was a crapped-out 12AX7.

Re: Marshall 2550 SJ Humming and Whistling
Broken/intermittent connection? Prod around with chopstick. Thank you for your reply, and that's exactly what I did. I replaced the replacement V1 tube with another tube after testing the socket connections.... Fixed! The filter caps original caps needed replacing, so it wasn't a complete waste of ...

Marshall 2550 SJ Humming and Whistling
Okay, so my 2550 started in with a nasty 60Hz hum this afternoon. I had been meaning to replace the 30 year old filter caps with new ARS caps, which I did do. I have new caps installed, but it still suffers from the same issues. When I plug/unplug the guitar cord, I get a whistling sound at the half...

Re: Two different plate voltage readings
Thank you, everyone. It's running great now! I'm getting plate readings of 455.2VDC across all four tubes. I can't get the bias into 60% range, but it's not too hot. I run the amp at 117VAC line input, which put the bias at 42mV. I'd still like to get it down a bit though. I was going to increase th...

Re: Two different plate voltage readings
I added an additional 5.6k grid-stopper directly to pin 5 on each power tube socket. I've had the amp running now for 10 hours without so much as blip or pop from the power section. Even at extreme volumes, the power section is rock-solid! The only mishap was that I bent the corner of the rear panel...

Re: Two different plate voltage readings
The amp is a '96. The filter caps are original. No visible swelling... Have not checked ESR's, nor do I have a good ESR meter.

Re: Two different plate voltage readings
I'm going to re-check the screen resistors. Being soldered to the board, will this effect my readings? How high can I go with the screen resistors? Can 1.5k screen resistors be used in a 6L6 amplifier? I will just add additional screen resistors (for a 1.5k total) to the socket terminals, if there i...

Re: Two different plate voltage readings
Sorry... Yes, the screen resistors checked good, but I will check them again. They are soldered to the PCB, along with the 5.6k grid-stoppers... Will I still get an accurate reading? Thanks! I didn't want to have to remove the grid-stoppers from the board. I would like to use some 10k Dale resistors...
