Re: 2203... Effects Loop

I'd invest in this, sure thing. Gonna be needing one for an upcoming build, and I'd rather not have to tweak the design as it is now, because it does need tweaking. And it's another tube. Not that I don't like tubes, mind you. The whole friggen amp it'll go in needs tweaking, and that's being modest...

Re: high gain lee jackson gp 1000

It will happen at some point  I've gotton shocked enough to not even flinch when I do now...... I think Gorhrut knows that stuff....Rune ...he might get shocked  Same here, thought it's been a while since it's happened... It's funny, people that work on amps are thankful when they grab 12...

Re: high gain lee jackson gp 1000

Re: high gain lee jackson gp 1000

Delete P100 Connect R17 to ground Delete everything related to Master 2 Connect C4 to P6 That, yes. R17 may want to be a pot at first so you can decide what would be best for this grid leak portion of the divider going into V2A. When you have a happy result, measure the pot and replace with a fixed...

Re: high gain lee jackson gp 1000

So you don't even have an actual schematic with mods I take it? What do you have, just emails from techs? (Not trying to sound condescending here, just wondering what you're working with.) I take it you can't actually read a schematic then? Like I said, I'm not going to go nuts following PCB traces ...

Re: high gain lee jackson gp 1000

I don't really have time to read through this whole thread, but I certainly don't remember anyone dismissing your knowing how to make this higher gain. Whatever you've done/know how to do about that, there's probably more to be had, depending. For starters, one word: Bootstrapped. Wait, are you talk...

Re: high gain lee jackson gp 1000

I can tell you exactly how to do this, and I'd be glad to do so. I'm not gonna do a paint by numbers for you, but this isn't terribly complicated so long as you can read little numbers and solder/desolder on PCB. Remember that ebay auction you had with this? In the description it said the "winner" w...

Re: JJ Punctured Cap Can (With dissection photos)

Oh, and by the way! The $13 price quoted by stevem above, is actually a Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal at thetubestore.com, so if you're in need of caps like this or anything else from them, now is the time to order! These are normally more in the $20 range. So, the price didn't go down from what I ...

Re: JJ Punctured Cap Can (With dissection photos)

Picture results of dissection, for science! Better to side with caution, but in this case, I doubt it needed to be done. However, I couldn't have came to that conclusion without having actually done it.. The dent was in fact a tiny dent, not a puncture. There is a very small air gap between the capa...

Re: high gain lee jackson gp 1000

The clean is the front end of the gain...so that wont work. Even if you could ....its the grounding thats the problem. Just to clarify on my end, yes the clean is the front end/V1. By saying "bypass", I guess I should've used a different word. "Disable", perhaps? One could do away with the switchin...

Re: Bedroom recording a Wreck

I love the Royer 121! (If only I had the funds...) As well as a Neumann TLM 103 if we're talking pricey mics... The Sennheizer e906 is also one of those "always sounds good on a guitar cabinet" mics. The EV 408, I haven't come across one of those in my day yet... They certainly won't break the bank ...

Re: JJ Punctured Cap Can (With dissection photos)

Well, it was only realistically going to take one person to tell me to scrap it for me to make up my mind. Seems the price went down a little since I got them at least.... I'll make a video cutting it open and spilling its guts if anyone's interested? I'm going to cut it open now anyway, my morbid c...

Re: JJ Punctured Cap Can (With dissection photos)

Thanks GKT, I really appreciate it! I'll put a 'lil dab of silicone in there. It's a single, not a multi cap.

Anyone else care to weigh in if this makes them squeamish?

JJ Punctured Cap Can (With dissection photos)

One of the JJ cap cans for a build I'm working on got a tiny little hole in it from an allen wrench multi tool, the hex nut that holds it together. Must be I was tightening the mounting nut underneath and the tool pivoted, and was in just the right position to poke a can with the sharp corner of the...
