Re: Music to work to

I used to really dig the WAVE in SoCal. Really good etherial vibe when doing work that required concentration.

Re: Fender Hot Rod DeVille Michael Landau

1.) It makes the volume work better...ie. instead of the "1 is too low but 3 is too loud" syndrone that Hotrods are known for, It moves the too loud level to 5 or so, which makes adjustments more small room friendly. 2.)The higher transconductance of 12AT7 seems to accentuate the high frequencies mo...

Re: Again - please, web master, fix the attack site stuff

Any other sites that the regulars here frequent? I'm growing weary of being lulled to sleep with a false sense of security. Music Electronics Forum aka MEF. Some of our TAGsters are on there already. In many ways it's similar, and has some departments that appeal to pickup builders. MEF not without...

Re: Fender Hot Rod DeVille Michael Landau

I have come to an agreement with the Hot Rod lead channel. I keep the gain very low, just enough to add some light clipping, then turn the master up. I actually enjoy playing the Hot Rod series like that. The "More Drive" is only good for Lynyrd Skynyrd covers... I feel the same but just put a 12AT...

Re: New 20 watt SD build

A lot of elegance in the simplicity Carl. SD was going to be my next build also.
...on a side note...is Imperial Burger still in business? I've been out of LaHabra for 20 years, so likely not I suppose. Best pastrami sandwiches west of New York City in the 80s!!!

Re: boredom

I hear you.
Certainly wish I had the coin to build at least one amp per week(not for customers) for about two months...just to scratch a few itches I have.
Last child a Junior in college...so maybe next year.

Re: marshall ma100h

It saddens me to say so but I haven't heard a decent Marshall production amp in a long, long time. The ones that do sound ok have so many heat/IC/board problems that I would not recommend buying one any more. The MA is too fizzy for my tastes. There is a good reason they are $700.00 new! Asian crap ...

Re: Again - please, web master, fix the attack site stuff

Allynmey, it would be nice if you would at least tell us your thoughts on this. What are your intentions? If you've had enough of TAG, and it's your intent to just let it wither away, then just step up to mic and tell us. ....or..... you could just continue to ignore this thread, as if it doesn't e...

Re: DSL4oc problems

The 1 that played well after retube/rebias finally trashed again. Starts out 32ma bias and finally started rising slowly until I turned it off at 75ma. after cooling down it is back to low 30s. All 3 have same issue and are less than 4 months old, so they'll have to go back to Marshall tech...but I ...

DSL4oc problems

A local music store that sends work across my bench has sent me 3 DSL40s this month. All have had the same symptoms. They all 3 claim to play great for 15 minutes, then start screaming. My first thought was bad solder joint, but couldn't find any. All 3 had 1 power tube shorting, with signs of obvio...
