Re: Again - please, web master, fix the attack site stuff
I actually don't mind not reading all the questions created from fly by internet searchers. This system keeps them all away and only regular subscribers dare enter our domain. I usually agree to some extent, but... If I would have received the same warning the first time I tried to enter ...

Re: Again - please, web master, fix the attack site stuff
This thing seems to be hurting the site as evidenced that Fender discussion hasn't had a single post in 6 days, Marshall in 7 days, and Vox in 9 days.
I know that those discussions are not all that busy, but a week without even 1 post?

Who is the webmaster of this site? The folks at google are telling me that it's 2-3 days max to square away if webmaster follows protocols.

Re: 6SN7/6SL7 and DC Heaters
I've built 3 PTP 5B6 Bassmans with Russian octal preamp tubes 6SL7/6SN7. No problem with noise whatsoever. I use standard twisted heaters, ground right to the tube socket mounting screws, and keep grids short and away from others as possible. I got 3 each SUPPOSEDLY NOS tubes which were all micropho...

Re: Why use the 6-7-8 side of a 12ax7 for the 1st gain stage?
Marco, there is ALOT of information on this site and it is all available using the search function. Most of your recent questions have been asked and answered many times. I suggest using the search because you'll end up with more information then you'll get by re-asking. Many of the topics are deta...

Re: 5f6a being a real pain.
You're a better man than me Mark. I couldn't get those wires compressed enough to work. The insulation of 1 wire tore causing a potential shorting scenario before the bells were seated.

Re: How to make the most pedal-friendly Plexi?
I built a 1987 stock value plexi PTP with PPIMV. Playing it straight (PPIMV dimed, Volume 8-10) it had near perfect tone. I tried a JB Fuzzface which was not too bad. Tube Screamer had almost no effect unless the amp was turned down to 6-7 and what effect it did have was not pleasant to me. Dime it ...

Re: 5f6a being a real pain.
It was the W022798 that I had trouble with for a 5B6 PTP. The PT actually was and is performing perfectly, it's just that I had to go with a slightly larger chassis than I wanted after enduring their insult!

Re: 5f6a being a real pain.
Weber lost all my business when they hinted that my skills were in question when the standup endbells they sent would not fit in a Chinese PT they sent. The bells measured much shallower than the stock laydowns. They never made good on the deal and the bells got screwed onto the end of my bench as a...

Re: 69 Deluxe Reverb wiring
I got a '72 Twin on the bench for a buyer's inspection. Fender must have gone through miles of that wire, as each one was at least half again longer than necessary. I also couldn't believe how wavy the board was and how much electrolysis was on the chassis in an amp that was always in the closet of ...

Re: Rediculous email scam
I usually immediately interrupt them, telling them that I am glad that they called because I want to talk to them about Jesus and wonder if they know that they are on the way to hell...which is usually followed by the click of their phone hanging up!

Re: What was the first album / CD you bought?
King Crimson "In The Court of the Crimson King" and Pink Floyd "Saucer Full of Secrets" both purchased at the same time. Pretty sure they were 4 bucks each as I got change back from a sawbuck even after taxes.
