Re: Just put 6L6's in my D'Lite
Love the RD50 clone. heisthl built that for me. After some PAB tweaks it's done. Now has an EV12L and sounding damn fine. I will post some newer clips soon on it's thread. I've just been lurking on this thread and giggling at how this thread about 6L6's in a D'Lite turned into friendly debate regard...

Re: D'lite bug finally drawing blood...
What he said. Just not enough headroom for the clean channel . Now if all you want to do is rawk at low volume..... But, that really isn't rockin' then. Is it?
P.S. LOVE my D'Lite. Just love it way more with 6L6's. And was so easy with the kit iron and bias pot to change to alternate tube types.

Re: 6V6 ODS or D'Lite??
tubeman, My first amp build was a D'Lite. I am extremely happy with the outcome. I do, however, think the amp sounds much better with 6L6's for power and a tweak on the PAB. I went in wanting a lower wattage amp that would give up a nice, singing overdrive at low SPL. The master volume works extreme...

Re: PAB blues
Funk,
Are you saying that the 22M don't mean diddly now that the other valueas are in? I still have the MusicMan open and am not as happy with the turn out. I should probably take everything out of there and start from scratch. It's so tight in that chassis - it's hard to work on it that spot....

Re: PAB blues
Well, opened up both amps today. All I had were 4.9Meg resistors. I ended up adding 1 - 4.9M to each 22M that were in the 50watt nonHRM and 2 (roughly 10M) to the D'Lite. I am much happier with the boosts in both amps now. I can finally use them on top of the clean to get a little hair. Very satisfi...

Re: PAB blues
Well, my D'Lite has no resistors there and my non-HRM 50 watter has the 22M resistors at the relays. I may try clip leading some values in the 50 watter and see what value I end up with. More later.....

Re: Just put 6L6's in my D'Lite
BobW, heisthl built an interesting non-HRM amp with a single 15 JBL that is chronicled here: http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2370 He raves about the overtones that jump from that chrome dome 15" speaker. I have yet to hear it in person but, trust his opinion of it. It is, I believe, 2 cle...

Re: PAB blues
Thanks Funk,
I'll look at both of my amps and see what I have there. Sounds like the answer to my problem.

PAB blues
Does anyone else find the PAB to be a little too over the top on it's own? I would love to take the clean boost off my pedal board but, I find I use the PAB with the OD channel a lot but, never without. I set my clean boost at a level in between my clean sound and clean + PAB. I prefer the clean ton...

Re: Just put 6L6's in my D'Lite
Thanks for the compliments guys! I have since discovered that, after changing from 6V6 to 6L6's, the impedance changes. So with my 8 ohm cab I needed to run the switch at 16. Sounds even better now! More headroom and louder.

Re: Omega custom blues amp
I had Jim mod not a Blues Deluxe but, a Hot Rod Deluxe for me about a year and a half ago. He did nothing short of a miracle with what was a really crappy overdrive section in that amp. I have since sent it back for an update on the tweak he does for that amp. I dig it even more now! Jim is a great ...
