Re: Bassman with fender coded transformer but also universal voltage selector
X2 with the above. That's a very late 67 model if it's got the drip edge ! That's likley one of the last made Fender models to still have the good blue coupling caps in them. The first thing you should do if you pick it up even if the amp plays fine is to change out the bias filter to a 75 to 100 v...

Bassman with fender coded transformer but also universal voltage selector
I’m looking at a drip edge bassman Head. It has the original blue molded caps. It has an output transformer dated to 1967 (or 1977) and the power transformer is a Hammond fender one (I think that is either a 1966 or 1976. My worry is it has an aftermarket universal voltage switch installed. It looks...

Re: Ampeg Reverberocket GS 12
I've never worked with the style tone stack in the ampeg. Couldn't taking out some treble be as simple as changing the .00025uf cap in the treble part of the tone stack? or maybe its the .002uf cap. Or should I just do a low pass filter in between the volume pot and the pin 2 of the second gain stag...

Re: Ampeg Reverberocket GS 12
A small cap across the reverb transformer output, or across the recovery amp input to ground will attenuate treble, but didn't you say the treble content of the main signal was too bright also? If so, treble should be reduced in an earlier stage. Yeh I think id really just like to attenuate the tre...

Re: Ampeg Reverberocket GS 12
Take a look at this reverb. 2007 Old flame Reverb Section Schematic.jpg Isnt this quite a bit different style of reverb? the ampeg is capacitance driven to everyone else: now when I turn the reverb up- certain notes get really distorted- is my tank just going bad? or maybe the rubber I put between ...

Chassis Lid for Ampeg Reverberocket
Hey I'm in need of a lid for my ampeg reverberocket. It was just a thin piece of rusty steel (i guess) before I lost it- just had some self tapping screws that went into top of chassis to hold it together. Anyone know what material I could use (cheap and easily sourceable) to easily make one for mys...

Re: Ampeg Reverberocket GS 12
Yeh ok what? all you said was add a 1M pot for tone control. after you posted that I went and looked up how i might wire this and what cap to use- etc etc, but I'm pretty unsure in this circuit. also can anyone answer this? I was told to make my reverb less bright and filled with treble content I s...

Re: Ampeg Reverberocket GS 12
Pin 3 V4. The cathode cap can be removed and/or value reduced. You could also add a pot to the ground end 10-k (?) and it would allow variable dwell. You could also reduce the drive from the prior triode into v4. And yes: a cap from pin 6 to ground would certainly be a snubber. i've been trying to ...

Re: Ampeg Reverberocket GS 12
If I was gonna put a dwell control in this amp I'd replace that 220K on V4-11 with a 250K pot, wired as a common volume control. Just to clarify- a common volume pot? doesnt that use all three lugs- input, output, ground. so a wire from the junction of the .1uf and 2.2m junction goes to lug 3, lug ...

If I was gonna put a dwell control in this amp I'd replace that 220K on V4-11 with a 250K pot, wired as a common volume control. That would work fine. Perhaps a small tail resistor so the reverb won’t go completely off. You can certainly run a circuit without a cathode cap, you simply get less gain...

Re: Ampeg Reverberocket GS 12
Honestly, I silicone the wires at the jacks and transducers to extend pan life. I would tweak the reverb send and return electronically before I would mess with the springs in any way. You can’t undo a screw up, and I’ve never ever heard of this. I’m only doing this stuff for 40 years, so...... It ...

Re: Ampeg Reverberocket GS 12
So put a 1/2" wide piece of tape like wrapped around each of the springs near the input? just one single wrap? how far down the spring from the start of the spring at the input side?

Re: Ampeg Reverberocket GS 12
You can buy a driver online as the post says above. It's called a "clutch head" screw. As far as brightness, some of these had a bright cap, which can be snipped. The RWB Is a pretty warm speaker, so I'm a little surprised if the amp is bright with that. I would check through the circuit carefully....
