Re: Jim Kelly amp at goodwill

My Friend Paul stacey who plays with Oasis and the Black Crowes uses a Jim Kelly combo. He loves it. It's a dense little thing, weighs a ton :)

Re: Lead Dress: OD V2a Grid wire

No, I have separated them. Originally I had V2a running down to the chassis and crossing/touching the V2a plate wire. After studying all the ODS pics I could find, I noticed the there was a clear separation between these wires. Mr Dumble clearly moves these 2 wires away from each other to varying d...

. The amp reminds me a lot of my JM sig I built.
:) I had a feeling my modded JM sig wouldn't be a million miles away hence me not jumping on to this build, tempting as it was/is

Re: JM wonderland - the final bit of the jigsaw

Very nice, Marcus! What is the configuration you have in there now? 68k /1m is back. 220k dry mixer resistor. 25uF verb cathode cap and 250k send pot speaker is the classic dumble oval back 2x12 cab with vintage Marshall Celestion G12-65's....they have eminence dust caps on them now though :) M p.s...

Re: JM wonderland - the final bit of the jigsaw

Re: Very Small Special

Any local feedback in the preamp? Since there's no OD, would you put all pedals in front, or better to put in an effects loop for verb, delay? No local feedback, I think that is what gives it so much character. Has me thinking of having the LNFB on a switch and relay(s) for the next ODS I build. It...

Re: JM wonderland - the final bit of the jigsaw

p.s. I've just been looking at the two rock classic reverb sig and that 68k/1M voltage divider is on a switch for gain staging . I think that's what got me to put a POT on the back. perhaps i should revisit this with a 3 way switch. I cant remember what the 2 rock values were for this though, any on...

Re: JM wonderland - the final bit of the jigsaw

Ryan thanks again for the info and also to Marcus and everyone else for experimenting. Ryan, in the amps you saw were the 226K resistors Draloric LCA type or RN60D type? I assume Draloric based on how they are depicted in your layout. I am going to make these changes too even though I am pretty hap...

Re: JM wonderland - the final bit of the jigsaw

I just tried to put 25uF on cathode of 12AT7, but that didn't work quite well, too dark for me. Interesting; have you got the bright cap on the send though? I notice on one of the layouts/schematics that some have a 10uF there and a 1k resistor. That's for a 5751. I have an AT7 as well which I thin...

Re: JM wonderland - the final bit of the jigsaw

Marcus 250k Send pot and 25u on the cathode of the reverb tube can help. A long three spring reverb tank too (9AB2C1B). Tom, I've got a vintage USA Acusonics Tank I pulled from the donor peavey amp along with the transformers :) it's a sweet reverb tank, better than any new one I've heard . I'll gi...

Re: Benson Monarch

Well, I subbed in a cheap Chinese 2x 6V6 OT and it plays loud and clear. Voltages are a little off from their targets but not by much... 340v on the 6V6 plates and 328v on the screens, 211v on the first stage plate, 207v on the second stage plate. These NOS CCs are a little off here and there so I ...

Re: JM wonderland - the final bit of the jigsaw

Great to hear about the new discoveries with your JM Marcus! Thanks for posting I am going to experiment with a larger Send pot for the reverb on an ODSR build. It has a similar mixer as the JM. I will use a 250KA instead of the usual 100Ka. i also switched my mixer to the new values mentioned here...
