Re: Hammond Ao35 iron??

Technically what I am adding to the amp is an ef86 which I believe draws less filament current than a 12ax7 anyway. Its just nice to hear of others who have done this for some reassurance.

Re: Hammond Ao35 iron??

I am hoping. I am optimistic about it. I will give it a shot and monitor it as was mentioned.

Re: Hammond Ao35 iron??

That would be my concern also. The transformer seems to be built quite stout but looks can be deceiving. I have a few auxiliary filament transformers but real estate is scarce and I dont want to induce any hum....

Re: Hammond Ao35 iron??

Typically they are made to use 2- 12ax7s 2-EL84s and a 5y3 rectifier. I dont want to change the power amp I just essentially want to add an ef86 to that lineup. I should have said that instead of a 12ax7. I have been building these with 1 ef86 and a 12ax7 PI but I wanted to add an extra gain stage o...

Hammond Ao35 iron??

Would anybody know it the hammond ao35 power transformer can handle the current demands for one more 12ax7? I am leaning towards yes it easily could but I just wanted to be sure and see if anyone has done this and had positive results. Thanks!

Reactive attenuator??

This question might be played to death but I will ask it anyway. I am looking for experience, insight, anything about a reactive load attenuator. I have built a couple out of Lpads and they work fine but definitely make things darker. I want to eventually build a 50 watt hiwatt clone and would like ...

5e5 pro power transformer

Just curious which power transformer I should get to build a stock 5e5 pro. Not 5e5-A. I cant seem to find much information on the original specs or cross references. I have seen somewhere it being said that it is the same as a tweed bassman transformer. Any advice appreciated.

Re: Digital oscilloscope?

I received the thing today. Messing with it right now and it seems pefectly sufficient for my needs. I like the simple operation and the physical size is a huge plus compared to the antique t.v. I had before.

Re: Digital oscilloscope?

I have both an old b+k and a hitachi. They are ok but they are getting finicky and I dont have time to repair test equipment. I just want something cheap, simple and reliable. I figure I would question the folks here to see of there is anything to avoid like the plague. I was looking closely at both...

Re: Digital oscilloscope?

I have been admiring the ones in the 250-350 range. I would probably set the ceiling around the 350 range.
