Re: Silvertone 1482 Build

Here is a nice little "tube swap" technical summary that might be helpful now and into the future.

Re: Old Time Photo's Thread!

LOL! How timely and fun.

A family member pointed me in the direction of this one just the other day.

Age 21, fresh out of university, playing my #1 (1972 LP Deluxe) and pretending to be a member of Thin Lizzy!

Re: Dumble style cabinetry

Likewise for the 3-axis table pricing! It looks like a grand can get you into the game nicely. Router, laser, hot-plastic-dripper,..etc.... The possibilities are mindboggling!

Re: Awful Quiet Here

Sweet!! Sounds like the 1 tube reverb is working well in this plan. I have added that to three different Bassman (5F6A) builds over the years and liked it in all. However, one of the owners felt that it wasn't quite enough "surf sound" for him. So....I threw in another socket and tube and all is wel...

Re: Open heart surgery Wednesday...

Good luck Robert!

Having come back "from the other side" a couple of times this year, I am in total agreement with Tom...it is truly amazing what they can do.

Our best wishes for a successful procedure and a rapid recovery are with you!!

Most sincerely,
Dave O.

Re: What was the first album / CD you bought?

Ok...I am comfortable enough with myself to admit that my first album was KISS: Hotter than Hell in 1974. I was 13 years old growing up in rural NH and was just becoming "aware" electric rock music (as my dad called it!). Allman Bros, Aerosmith, BOC, BTO, CCR, Rush, Stones, Zep,..etc..etc.. were onl...

Re: Strat player looking for a humbucking guitar

Check out the ESP line.

A friend of mine tried out their Les Paul'esqe offerings and was impressed with the value.

Re: ef86 preamp pedal

Check out the "Tube pre-amp in a pedal box" project here (Hoffman Amps):

I built one a few years ago and it worked fantastically.

Note the power supply transformer "stacking" to attain the desired voltages.

Good luck,

Re: Where are the amp builds?

All a hobby for me as well. I had a very serious case of pneumonia back in mid February. That quickly led to a acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) diagnosis and a 40 day medically induced coma while they figured out how to kill the infection and to tempt my respiratory system back into "go-mo...
