Re: Molded Mojo?

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'll pass on the moldeds, and like others said, let somebody who needs them to restore an actual original amp have them. It would piss me off if I needed them and they were in a clone. Anyway, mine are 715s. At the time I built the amp I though an orange drop was a...

Re: Molded Mojo?

PS. this should start an interesting conversation. (LOL) Yeah, I was afraid of that! But seriously, you guys know your shit, so I thought I'd ask here. It's not so much a sound thing as a "true copy" thing. Although mine does seem a bit brighter to me than an original right next to it. But that cou...

Molded Mojo?

I've got a few early 60s blue molded caps set aside for me by a friend if I want them. There's enough to do my DR that I built with Orange drops because I didn't know better at the time and all I ever heard was Orange drop Orange drop Orange drop... Question: Worth the time and money? (He said I cou...

Re: Rawcab from ebay

Really nice job and great looking amp. I've been going around about buying one of his cabs for two reasons, unfamiliarity with them, and fear of tolex. I think I'm gonna crack at one now though.

Re: Effect Pedal building

Just noticed this tread here. I started building pedals a while back. I enjoy it immensely. My favorite part is painting the enclosures, but I REALLY want to try my hand at etching like that Tony. Here's a few that I actually stopped to take photos of. Simple overdrive pedal, My first attempt at PTP...

Re: My Carmen Ghia-esque scratch build.

Bruce Clement. Just neat and tidy. It's hard to see from the photo, but I mounted the sockets on the inside of the chassis. The nut wouldn't fit the other way. There's plenty of clearance now.

Re: My Carmen Ghia-esque scratch build.

Ok here's where I am so far. I started out sort of Fender style, then wanted to try BC style (big laugh). Just kind of using this build to learn.

Re: My Carmen Ghia-esque scratch build.

Bottom line: No. That's what I thought. I think flipping the screws is the way to go. Not sure I want to rivet just yet. Haven't decided if I'm going to like this chassis yet. I might want to put it in an 18watt style combo cab one day. Right now it's just going in a head cab. Thanks Zippy

Re: My Carmen Ghia-esque scratch build.

I put the tube sockets on this afternoon, and on the power tubes, (the two to the left) The only nuts I had around seem to me to be awfully close to the grid pins. There's about 3/32 to 1/8 inch space. Do you guys think it'll be OK? I'm using 20AWG wire, and I know I'll have to be careful soldering ...

Re: My Carmen Ghia-esque scratch build.

Thanks guys. Listen, I honestly didn't mean to piss anybody off. I just felt like i was being attacked for asking a question. Anyway, I apologize. So how about yesterday i did all that work and didn't drill or cut a single hole in the damn back of the thing....
