Re: Friedman Dirty Shirley thoughts.

This might help not sure how accurate it is found it an the web a few months back. It may answer a few questions, may be someone can redraw it. Cheers Hey, does anyone know the pot values for this amp? I converted a 50-watt plexi into, essentially, a SS-rectified DS40. The Gain and Master controls ...

Re: Ideas for New Fender Build

The 5E3 is fine. Probably should tweak some cap values in the PI.

In other news, I’ve decided to build a Low Power Tweed Twin. Not the lightest, but the cleans sound amazing and it can certainly grind.

Ideas for New Fender Build

Hi guys, I have a few builds under my belt now and would like to build something Fender (I’ve built a 5E3, thought it was meh to be honest... too much bass). Here are my priorities: 1) it crunches hard when cranked 2) 12” speaker(s) 3) Relatively light 4) Reverb would be great, but not required I wa...

Re: Any interest in seeing some Dumble Tweed Deluxe photos?

Does anyone know the power rating on the 10k trimmer? I have one, but it is only rated at 1/8W and I'm guessing that isn't going to cut it.

Thanks

Perfect! Thanks!!

Standard Amp-Building Hardware

For building amps from scratch, what nuts, bolts, standoffs, etc. should a person keep around? I'm sure there are standards to have on hand that cover you so you don't have to buy specific hardware every time you do a build?

Thanks!

Re: I Can't Stop! Check My Attempt?

In fact, there are two unused triodes. So, I could go with two AX7's, two 6V6's, and a GZ34.

I will have an extra space for another preamp tube. What about an EF86 channel?

Re: I Can't Stop! Check My Attempt?

Thanks all for the help. I got a little bored at work and drew a layout up for the single-channel, cathode biased 6G3. Not sure it's legible, but it's a try! Other than using a nine-pin hole/socket, what all would I have to change on the design to use EL84's instead of 6V6s? Would I have to dramatic...

Re: I Can't Stop! Check My Attempt?

Thanks, thanks.

I'd rather build the 6G3. I'm just trying to practice understanding schematics and circuits.

Does my modified 6G2 look okay? I'm trying to better understand how to implement solid state rectifiers.

Re: I Can't Stop! Check My Attempt?

What about this modified schematic of a diode rectified, cathode biased 6G2?

Thanks!!!!

Re: I Can't Stop! Check My Attempt?

I guess I should ask--worth it to get MM transformers or should I look at something cheaper?

Re: I Can't Stop! Check My Attempt?

Thanks everyone. I may try to put together a layout in the next couple of days. My thoughts are building in an 18-watt Marshall chassis and 2x12 cabinet (enlarging the power tube and rectifier holes). What would some good transformer choices for a 6G3 build be? I could always just use the MM clones,...

Thanks for the help everyone.

Does anyone know of any software that's good for making layouts?

I Can't Stop! Check My Attempt?

Hi, In addition to my musings about different tweed circuits that I might want to build, I've been generally lusting for a 6G3. However, I'd like to keep it as simple as possible (for tone's sake). I modified a schematic to (hopefully) be one channel, no tremolo, with cathode biasing for the power t...
