My only two questions concerning this have been stated. But more answers would be nice.
1.) Will the diode protection reduce sag?
2.) If in the event the TR fails, the diodes would be providing a different secondary voltage. Which means in a fix biased amp the bias might need changed.

Re: power transformer getting hot
If you are in or super close to within specs you are fine. Yes it's nice to have overrated transformers.
Marshalls are rated at 150ma, el34's draw 150ma at zero signal and 198ish at max signal. Granted voltages change that.

Re: 59 bassman 5F6A build
Hmm my 5f6a build is freaking loud. Although I don't have a super reverb to compare it to. Side by side it Is roughly twice as perceived loud as my tweed deluxe. But that's 28w vs 12w.

I've got some scrap aluminum I'd give you for shipping costs. Plenty wide enough and easy to bend.

Oh I understand the consequences of bad grounding. I did say crappy apartment right? Looked inside the wall outlet......no ground connected. Needless to say I didn't stay there long

Re: Ground buzz - Driving me crazy
I've had this same problem on my epiphone. Hands off the strings and it buzzed. I checked the ground on the bridge and it was connected. Got scary when I was getting small shocks in my hands when I was staying in a crappy old duplex. Could be a bad ground on your guitar, could be a bad ground in you...

Re: WGS 12" Et65
I'm all for them. Their prices on the American stuff isn't all that great compared to the name brands they are knocking off. But they are higher wattage speakers. It is a give and take I suppose.

WGS 12" Et65
I am really digging this speaker and for $69 new its hard to beat. Currently using it through a Hall 1X12" Cab. It sounds ridiculously awesome with a tweed bassman/jtm45 type amp.

Re: bass head?
I broke it to him easy and told him to get a SS bass head. JM: That was pretty much my thought process. ball704: I don't think he's going to be jamming out so a 50 watter might do the trick, but that's still over a grand for something he could buy for half the price. So just out of curiosity is the ...
