Re: I'm officially PO'ed
I gave them a call. They were really nice. Talked to their head engineer for a half hr or so. They couldn't find anything wrong with the transformer. Couldn't get any hum out of it either. It makes me wonder if there is something wrong on my end. Anyways they are sending it back.

Re: WELL my car blew up
My luck has turned. This goes to show for every valley there is a hill. I sold my 2004 mustang I had setting here, my hall amp, my hall cab, AND one of my portable amps. Well noted on it's better to not be a slave to car payments. I was looking at the 2016 Ford focus for $16,000 brand new. That's a ...

WELL my car blew up
Bought a 1997 buick regal with a blown up motor for $500. The car had 130,000 on it and the body and interior was in really good shape. So I put a motor and other various things which adds the cost up to around $1000 plus all the labor me and my old man put into it (hes been a mechanic all his life)...

Re: I'm officially PO'ed
Alright.
They have had the returned transformer for 8 business days> I sent them an email and still no resonce.
Needless to say the all mighty EDCOR has lost my business, and gained a spokesperson against them.

Re: alembic f2b
I thought so, that makes sense.
With the amp at half volume and the alembic at half volume it doesn't hum really, but anything more than that on the alembic and the high frequency squeal starts.
Honestly it is pretty Damn quiet.

Re: alembic f2b
This brings up a question of mine. A volume control controls the amount of voltage the power tubes receive in an amplifier. Now when I add the alembic in which boosts the signal (voltage) wouldn't I be able to drive the power tubes with the volume on the amp turned down and the volume on the alembic...

Re: alembic f2b
Even when plugging into the front end of an amp like a tweed Princeton it can get too hairy.
That's good to know!

Re: alembic f2b
The schematic I used didn't have any voltages on it. Its running around 210v on the plates after the 100k plate load resistors. I used a replacement reverb transformer. 250k on all the pots except for the volume which is a 1m. I thought that 250k for a mid pot was a little strange. Then I found the ...

I just built one, well one channel of it. I'll post pictures later. I must say this thing sounds good. Incredible amounts of gain. I actually had to put a 12ay7 in it because it had just too much balls.
I'm thinking about putting in some relay switching for foot pedal operations. : ))
