Re: AC50 loses punch & gets fizzy after a couple of hours

Thanks for the replies everyone! This gives me somewhere to start. I'm fairly good at doing repairs but not always the best at diagnosis so I appreciate the input. Some more details I should have mentioned: The amp was gone through and all electrolytic caps were replaced about 10 years ago. Some res...

AC50 loses punch & gets fizzy after a couple of hours

I have a '66 AC50 that has been my main amp for years. I'm having an issue where it loses punch & gets fuzzy after a couple hours of playing. Any tips as the best place to start looking for the cause? The tubes are fairly new and I've never experienced this problem with tubes before. I'm recording s...

Re: Hall VVR3 fizzy sound

OK, finally got back into this thing. this VVR is for fixed bias amps. No PI master. This kit is supposed to scale the entire amp. I didn't put the cap & resistor on the input but I did change 2 resistors on the board to keep the VVR from going to low voltages. This is in the manual. I won't be usin...

Hall VVR3 fizzy sound

Hi all, I just installed a Hall VVR3 in a Weber Plexi clone. The amp sounds great at full volume. The VVR seems to work correctly until the pot gets to about 3/4 and then it gets very fizzy and thin sounding. I re-did the installation test in the instructions and all the voltages are tracking proper...

VVR3 help

New member here looking for some help. I installed a VVR3 installed in a Weber 50 watt Marshall Plexi build. Everything checked out correctly per the test instructions & bias set correctly except the B+ out from the board is more than 20 volts lower than the B+ in. B+ in is 430vdc. B+ out is 360 vdc...
