Re: Purchased completely gone-through '72 Traynor YBA-1 - DOA

That's funny, cause I actually bust ass for my money and have to eat shit regularly to pay my bills. If I have an annoying customer, guess what? You guessed it. I have to work hard and take nonsense to pay for 600 dollar amps and the easy 1200 I've put into Larry's business in the last two years. La...

Re: Purchased completely gone-through '72 Traynor YBA-1 - DOA

So now HE get's to be the one to actually fix it and fix whatever else the guy screwed up trying to fix the original problem. Well yeah..I mean that's the job! To fix stuff. Speaking from a musician's perspective, I don't settle with that lousy attitude! I've sat around and learned Yes Close to the...

Re: Purchased completely gone-through '72 Traynor YBA-1 - DOA

I told him money is no object. Let it cost 300 dollars whatever. Do you want the work or not? Try being a doctor. They had to cut into my mom's foot the other day and handled it without the anti-social high-strung vibe.

Re: Purchased completely gone-through '72 Traynor YBA-1 - DOA

Dropped the amp off with Larry the Accutech guy. He was groaning and moaning. It was really starting to annoy me. I've dropped things off before and he was fine. This time he just felt like being bitchy, like I was bothering him to pay him to do work (go figure). He looked at the list of work done a...

Re: Purchased completely gone-through '72 Traynor YBA-1 - DOA

Well, I just bought a new soldering iron and an assist kit with a cleaning brush is on the way. I think I might be better equipped to take a shot at it. I really do stink at soldering (or all the irons I've used just stink) and I really don't know what wire goes where. I find wiring diagrams, but no...

Re: Purchased completely gone-through '72 Traynor YBA-1 - DOA

You think it's seriously fair to charge 70 bucks to wire this simple thing? I've literally prepped the thing, built the new control panel, can supply plenty of awesome 70s CTS pots and jacks. 70 bucks is out of control for these simple two volume controls. I'd rather never play bass again than pay ...

Re: Purchased completely gone-through '72 Traynor YBA-1 - DOA

no kidding! wow! I'd be curious to see pics and updates about your story! BTW- the language you guys use is somewhat over my head and I'm in such a stressed out point in my life I don't have time to learn how to read schematics. but I decided when I get into my 30s I'm figuring this out, starting wi...

BTW here are some schematic pictures I took of what came with my amp. I'll be sure to keep all updated about this beauty.

Re: Purchased completely gone-through '72 Traynor YBA-1 - DOA

I'm glad the guy was sweet to talk to, but he didn't offer to give you the parts he replaced. but as drew pointed out, the auction was for what was in the sale, not parts he took out right? I sell things I part out all the time on ebay. i don't expect the customer to get those items too! EDIT - I d...

Re: Purchased completely gone-through '72 Traynor YBA-1 - DOA

So what can be inferred here? That the seller lied to me? He said it worked and he tested and heard it before he shipped it out. I noticed that 10k thing too. Am I to believe the amp re-wired itself during shipping?

Re: Purchased completely gone-through '72 Traynor YBA-1 - DOA

I see your point, thank you very much. very good advice. But I doubt a miswire! You're right, that would be just nuts. And yeah, he was testing it for weeks he said. He said he couldn't turn the volume past one or two before just being engulfed in massive amounts of volume. Gnardo - you're right - I...
