Can't really tell if it is big enough, but my guess would be some kind of guitar (or other instrument) wall hanger. Maybe it got separated from the rest of the assembly?

A carbon track along the wiring side of the socket or the tube side? Is there any way I can still use the sockets after cleaning them? When you tested continuity did you test to see if the tip was shorted with the ground side of the plug? Only thing I can think of is that there is an internal short in the plug.

Does anybody know where to get this stuff? I know some amp companies/builders have it as an option, but the places I've found that just sell tolex don't seem to offer taurus in white.
