Re: Traynor YGM-3 (early) - Selmer cab
Hi All Just back with a general query about pots. Are there different tapers for audio pots? A while back I bust the volume pot on the Traynor which is a 1Meg Log (audio taper) pot. It was very predictable up to about 6 with volume increase then it would get fatter sonically as the amp progressively...

Re: Traynor YGM-3 (early) - Selmer cab
Nothing like an old tech who's being doing this for 30 plus years!
Those were his diagnostic notes...and he's Scottish so imagine "Rubbish" and "Pish" said in that brogue...

Written observations.
The text I've printed that he's commented on came from a forum site.

Re: Traynor YGM-3 (early) - Selmer cab
He's made a new measured scheme for the amp - all voltages etc - and has written observations and set bias currents etc.. I'll post his comments.

Re: Traynor YGM-3 (early) - Selmer cab
Yes he scoped it out. Also said my transformer install and bias and testing point where top notch, so many thanks for that! He also was NOT impressed with the PI mod I got from the Parkhead mods. He said it messed up the biasing and actually pushed what were matched valves out of whack. Also another...

Re: Traynor YGM-3 (early) - Selmer cab
Happy New Year Folks! An update. The fizz was still bugging me and I got to the point where I felt I needed to find a good old tech. I brought to a guy in Leeds called Mac amps and he traced the fault as inherent in the reverb recovery part of the circuit. There was some distortion there before it e...

Re: studio stuff
Mark, you need to contact Keith Andrews about that LA2. He is the final source for a couple things you need to make it work like an original. Umm.. BARKS I SUMMON THEE (goes to pms to summon Barkley to get you guy together about Keith because I AM NOT A FACEBOOK USER ANYMORE and I can't just hand o...

Re: Traynor YGM-3 (early) - Selmer cab
Hi All, just a quick update. The Amp Rocks! The Tokai LS160 Goldtop P90 and amp are a perfect combo. It is still going strong - just a temperamental hum on the reverb for me to resolve but this was an old issue from years ago as well. A couple of clips of it at a reunion: Au naturel with just a bit ...

Re: Delete your Facebook account here
I've suspended mine at the end of March - not deleted yet, but think that is going to happen now. With all the Cambridge Analytica stuff going on and the dark arts of data mining...Colonialists have gone digital. Ugh we are so being duped. Made a dummy profile to keep my studio page though. I have t...

Re: Traynor YGM-3 (early) - Selmer cab
Thanks Martin! I've indeed learned a lot. To summaries for all: Replaced transformer to correct spec and installed with guidance on sensible wiring. Learned about Heater,Plate, Screen and Grid. And how voltages can change depending on the outlet it's plugged into nearly 250v here Added bias pot and ...
