Re: Steel String Singer #001/#002/#004 Layout/Schematics

Ok, I need to make sure those who want chassis are clear on what is happening here, although I might be confused.. I offered to add people to my chassis order of 10, but then Ryan informed me that there is a Facebook “group” putting together a group buy as well. We could all get together for ...

Re: If you were going to give amp designs a taxonomy, how would you do it?

This is very interesting. I’ve been wanting to do a genealogy chart of amps to get a detailed understanding of this progression. It would be nice to have a video of a basic circuit followed by overlays of changes or “improvements” in a different colors. It would be like watching ape turn into man......

Re: Steel String Singer #001/#002/#004 Layout/Schematics

Nice! I can’t wait. I’ve been wanting to do an SSS for the longest time..... I’ll have to keep busy with a 50W version of The Pig until then.

Re: Steel String Singer #001/#002/#004 Layout/Schematics

Well, that’s even better. I think I’ll just wait for your PCB/revised chassis combo. I’ll certainly be good for 2 sets. (Even though I already populated the Hoffman boards with eyelets, darn it). The Dumble chassis were PCB anyway, correct? So, that’s more historically accurate. Although I’m a fan o...

Re: Steel String Singer #001/#002/#004 Layout/Schematics

Ok 7 more and I’ll drop a dime.... BTW....maybe Ryan could chime in about whether it is worth it to get the sides welded in. (I seem to remember him having an issue with placement of one of the side walls when I watched his video). The quote was without tack welding them. I could get a quote with we...

Re: Steel String Singer #001/#002/#004 Layout/Schematics

I’m about to buy SSS #002 chassis from Ryan’s fabricator, but as he states on his excellent site, it’s a lot of cost savings buying 10 vs just 2. So, if I can get 8 people that want one, I will just go ahead and buy 10 and pass them on at cost plus shipping because the savings makes it worth my time...

Re: What's your favorite small amp and speaker?

Colossal, I built the single. I'd like to do a double to get more of that single ended goodness, but I'm always surprised at how loud that amp is. It was my first cabinet build as well and I didn't know a thing about cabs. I made it a little bigger than the Maggie cab from Weber that fits the Two-St...

Re: What's your favorite small amp and speaker?

Dave Hunter's Two-Stroke. Yeah, it was my first build (love), but it still sounds so damn good. It is so simple with little in the way between the guitar and the speaker. After 12 other builds ranging in size and complexity (I'm on an ODS now), it still can't be beat to my ears. I'm never giving it ...
