Thanks Martin, Bill and Guy for your responses. They were helpful.
I just finished the grill cover and piping. I'm very happy with the look of my grill cover. However, I'm a little disappointed in my piping job. I didn't find any good tutorials on installing that.

Next up, grill cover
I just completed the tolex job on my first speaker cab. Now I just need to do the speaker grill. I'd like to make it look like the attached image. Does anyone know the name of this type of grill material and where to buy it. Also, what is the white part called? Binding?

Re: Question covering with one piece of Tolex
Thanks for all of the tips. My first cabinet covering was a success. The finished product looks really nice. Surprisingly, the part that gave me the most trouble was cutting the seam. I used a new blade in my box knife and bared down hard on the cut but still had issues getting through both pieces o...

Re: Speaker Cabinet Handle Screws
Glenn, The T Nuts worked really well. I got #10s from Home Depot. With T Nuts you still have a hole that goes all the way through. In my opinion, they are way less hassle than a nut and washer. When installing the screw you don't have to hold the nut and washer with your other hand. When taking out ...

Thanks Glenn, I think a T Nut is a good choice here.

Speaker Cabinet Handle Screws
The recent cabinet that I built follows the Dumble dimensions and plan that can be found on this site. It's the 1 x 12 inch speaker cab with an oval opening in the back. I used 1/2 inch birch plywood with a 12 inch EV speaker. It's not light. What would you recommend for handle screws? Heavy duty wo...

Drilling holes prior to covering in Tolex?
I have another rookie question. How important is it to pre-drill holes prior to applying tolex? I've seen videos where the holes are pre-drilled. Once tolex is applied, a heated awl is used to open the hole in the tolex. They say that this process prevents a screw from messing up tolex. It doesn't s...

Re: Question covering with one piece of Tolex
important, dont cut all the length exactly, snd glue only 3 sides and 4.th bottom next day.. because tolex is shrinking and if doing all on the same day, thre will be visible gap when glue hardens.. next day making 4.th side easily, cut on size and will be no gap Does everyone agree that the one pi...

Question covering with one piece of Tolex
I have a simple question. I am going to cover a speaker cabinet with one piece of tolex so that I only have one seam. Since the I will need to coat all 4 sides with WilsonArt H2O, one side will be on the floor as I wait for the glue to get tacky. Having one side on the floor does not seem like a goo...

Re: Larry Carlton 4 x6V6 ODS
Do you mean "*Shakey* Ground"?
Delbert McClinton did do a cover of Shakey Ground but it was originally done by the Temptations.
I'm not sure which version if any, the amp was used on.

Re: Couple of #183 derivatives
... So started. Anode , cathode, resistors caps. Cathode bypass caps. Supply electrolytic for OD section from new Kemet 22uF to 20uF F&T. Started, no fuzz!! Classic rock tone on 183' amp with LP. Did you replace all of these parts before finding out that you had solved your fuzz issue? Or, ...

Re: 102 with BM tonestack
Thanks for sharing all of your clips! I also agree that the latest sounds WAY better. But, you switched to humbuckers. So was it the guitar or your amp changes what improved the sound?
Why not go back to one of the guitars you originally used so that an apples to apples comparison can be made?

Re: Does that sound like a Dumble Amp to you?
When he isolates this track at 5:55 my ears hear delicious Dumble tone. This is the kind of tone that I was looking for when I discovered Dumble amplifiers and the amp garage. Christopher Cross MUST BE using using a Dumble here. I could be wrong. What do your ears say? Start at 5:55 in the followin...
