Re: airbrake?

on BR setting running 16ohm load/ 16 cab- amp sounds much fuller and more alive, so I will try the same thing in other modes.

Re: airbrake?

I don't hear much color added at all, if anything there is a slight tonal shift when running the head at a 8ohm load into 16 ohm cab, that is a tad less highs- easily dialed back in through tone controls of amp, seems to add a bit of compression- which I like, im running the head into some older spi...

Re: airbrake?

second test, 1987 50watt plexi boosted with mxr OD- mode 1 straight in- sounds great, mode 2- sounds awesome, havnt tried bedroom yet- I will tonight. just a killer addition to this amp setup. something strange though, when I use my delay I get some really strange repeats- when I cut the guitar the ...

Re: airbrake?

first test of 8ohm load straight into 16ohm cab, amp didn't blow up- actually sounds better. cant wait to try the airbrake tonight.

Re: airbrake?

I think I have those backwards 0 ohm is full up volume and 20ohm is volume way below, I just measured the rheostat itself to find approximate ohm' age positions with the rheostat itself instead of variable lugs on a resistor. the ohm positions on the rheostat were made out of circuit, so there is al...

Re: airbrake?

observation of my mode 2, looks like if I added 1 of the 8ohm/50watt power resistors I have off of the wiper of rheo1 back to cab outputs, I could get that section to a 16ohm load for a 16ohm cab, I might go ahead and try it and see what readings I get. any thoughts? 25ohm/100watt rheostat- measure...

Re: airbrake?

ok I just took some test readings, heres what I have.......... 16ohm cab tested bypass mode 13.3 in/ 13.3 out 25ohm/100watt rheostat- measured the ohms of rheostat in various positions to get readings in a stepped configuration like the big variable resistor would have been. 0 ohm-8.9 (lowest settin...

Re: airbrake?

my build has a gray hill 3 position switch, 25 ohm/100 watt shunt with adjustable center lug, 25ohm/100watt (ohmite) rheostat, 150ohm/50watt (clarostat) rheostat, dpdt switch for the .1/400volt cap, jacks/wire, a nice vented big box for ventilation. just done testing this thing: 1st position- bypass...

Re: airbrake?

curious about using the middle lug of the big shunt resistor (12.5ohm) for bedroom setting would that make a better impedance match when in bedroom setting? seen people do it that way, not sure why though?

Re: airbrake?

update, I just bought a grayhill switch- 2 decks, 1 pole/ 3 positions per deck. according to mouser its rated at 5A, exactly what I needed.

Re: airbrake?

thanx for the info, this build is more for a 50watt amp though, even with a 100 watt amp im not trying to get to bed room levels- I like them loud, just wanna take a little hair off the old #36 marshall if I wanted to. here is the schematic I needed for the wiring, I can follow this. thanx for the h...

Re: airbrake?

I found the schematic I need to build it, im looking to use a 2pole 3position switch. whats the minimum current and voltage for the switch or does it matter, I found a 2p3p rotary switch grayhill but the current and voltage ratings are pretty low?
