Re: Eq's in Dumble 50w out of

Is there a very audible change in the pot ride or is it rather subtle?

Re: Eq's in Dumble 50w out of

I changed the switch, the only difference is that the bass pot is giving some kind of reaction when turned, and the treble might have a relativelive weak reaction. Could it be a change to 500k pot will change anything?

Re: Eq's in Dumble 50w out of

Maybe a failed R/J switch that is not closing in Rock setting, resulting in PAB? Measure resistance across switch pins. The DPDT switch measure 0.5 ohms in all positions. A measured a new one, same result? All the switches seem to work, ecept the Treble/Bass/Mid- section in when in Rock-setting.

Eq's in Dumble 50w out of

Hi. I was hoping to not asking you guys for advice, but the Eq section in my Dumble 50w build is not active. I was wondering if this might be a quick fix, or I have to go through all the paths again? (I have, but I can't see any obvious reason for this.)

Thank you for that, but I have tried both of those things.

Re: Hurrah, a new transformer.

The blue wire is the bias tap. Check to be sure you get resistance readings from the blue to each red and also the white to confirm. Thank you Sluckey. I counted the leads coming out of the 022814 on the 50w'er and it also hahave 7 leads, so I hoped it would be like that. The company wasn't very in...

Re: Hurrah, a new transformer.

I am wondering if the Ov on this drawing is the 53v tap? I have never seen this before, so I thought I'd check it first. The colour codes doesn't match the transformer.

Primary:
230VAC, 50 HZ
Secondaries:
a) 420VDC @240mA FWCT, 330-0-330 VAC, 240mA with 53V bias tap
b) 6.3V, 3.15A

Hurrah, a new transformer.

Just got this transformer from https://www.etronic-parts.com/Transformers/Main-transformers/Power-transformer-for-Fender-Bassman-Concert-and-Pro::1425.html. Intended to go into my OD 50w, (022814 PT)- Only problem is that this amp has burnt 3 Weber transformer and I am a bit worried this would happe...

Re: Power transformer fails

I have a vibrolux custom here, when distorting the 2 6L6's the are drawing 100mA each and the PT runs very hot and sags from 425v down to 380v and lower. Quite a lot for a little 6L6 amp. I suspect that is the sound that Oddvar likes. If you want the sag fitting some resistors before the diodes wil...

Re: Power transformer fails

my experience with a weber twin PT was that it got hot and sagged a lot with 230v/50hz. the next transformer sagged way less, something that gave more power and punch. but you do loose some breakup, compression and mids. Perhaps that was what Oddvar was after here? That might be it. It had the best...

Re: Power transformer fails

I am in Norway. I have always thought that power transformers soun sort of neutral, but the TT ones were very hard in it's sound compared to the Weber. My 50w ODS sounds fantastic with the Weber, so the TT' Dumble 50w PT's was a bit of a let down. (So I returned them to Tube Town, they say you can ...

Re: Power transformer fails

I have always thought that power transformers soun sort of neutral, but the TT ones were very hard in it's sound compared to the Weber. Did you notice any significant difference in the B+ voltage between the two, particularly preamp tube plate voltages? I should have, but I didn't. I was so sutpris...
