Unless that switch in v1A's plate circuit is set for high gain, then no signal gets into the rest of the amp!
There's actually no switch there on the actual amp, it's a 100k vol (gain) control there.

Warwick Tube Path 10.1 Tone Circuit Help

Does anyone have some insight as to how this tone circuit works on the Warwick Tubepath 10.1?

Re: Is this a Marshall Major?

I wonder why the chassis is punched for 6x 8pin sockets? Also did they sell the major in the US or is this a 220v amp?

Is this a Marshall Major?

A buddy of mine found this amp for sale for dirt cheap and we're trying to figure out if it's a real Marshall Major. The guy he is talking to buys abandoned storage units and this amp and another Major PA (with 8 inputs) was in it. The major PA is definitely real but we're not sure on this one.

What the heck is this?

Someone brought in an old 1940s Dickerson guitar / lap steel amp to get working and this component was in it. It ran from the high input jack tip to the grid of the first preamp tube (6sf5). I tested it with my meter it has no continuity or resistance (well up to 20M anyway lol). There were no other...

Question about heater wiring

I have a power transformer with 12vct heater taps I wanna use for a build. It's gonna run 4x EL34s and 3x 12ax7s. I'm gonna wire the EL34 heaters in two series pairs. Do I ground the 12v heater center tap when using it on tubes wired in series? The amp I scrapped the transformer from also ran 4x el3...

Re: CHASSIS HOLE CUTTING GONE WAY WRONG

I noticed amplified parts / Tubesandmore / antique electronic / CE whatever they are calling themselves today carries what appear to be quality knockout punches in regular (not conduit) sizes. I'm lucky as my grandfather was an electrician/seabee and I inherited his tools some time ago so my greenle...

Re: Check my layout for a Matchless Chieftain Reverb

Thanks for the head slap. Certainly is an interesting topology, with two sets of paralleled triodes in the preamp, and the Bass/Mid separated from the Treble circuits. I want to play one! Yeah I've read on other boards that the tone controls are kinda sucky on these amps but it's nice to see someth...

Re: Fused HV

I usually fuse the HV secondaries before the rectifier but after any bias taps off the HV. I avoid panel mounting any HV fusing just in case.

Check my layout for a Matchless Chieftain Reverb

A guy contacted me who was interested in building a Matchless Chieftain Reverb clone but using a board rather than true point to point. I made this layout from the schematic that's available and wanted to have it double checked since Im not personally building the amp. There are some differences fro...

Re: Purpose of 30k 20w resistor on late SF amps

I guess not the sexiest way to do that but understandable I suppose I'm sure electrolytic caps rated for that surge were huge and expensive. Id imagine they probably wouldnt fit under the cap doghouses they probably had a warehouse full of lol. Thanks for replying to my question.

Purpose of 30k 20w resistor on late SF amps

Hi longtime lurker first time poster here. I was wondering if anyone could explain the purpose of the 30k 20w wire wound resistor on the end of the b+ rail to ground on the later Silverface amps particularly the Twin, 135w ultra linear amps. Is it there to lower voltage or maybe bleed the caps on th...
