Re: Late to the Trainwreck party, gonna build one anyway.
Inserting the flea clips are a real pain if you don't have the vectorboard tool. My first board I made I used a flathead screwdriver, It worked but I damaged a quite a few clips and had to replace them. There is a definite method for getting the little buggers into the board. Once you get it sorted...

The .062 vector board without copper clad is still available if that is what you're after.

Re: Late to the Trainwreck party, gonna build one anyway.
Just a heads up, KF used two types of Vector board. Do you have the early or later used version? The terminals (flea clips) are not the same. One is .062 and the other is .092.

Re: Late to the Trainwreck party, gonna build one anyway.
It will alter voltages a bit. The choke will have the ability to "store energy" and therefore could have an affect on the amp characteristics. Whether one likes the results is subjective. It really depends on what you are after in the way the amp you are building. Are you after the circuit KF built ...

Re: Caps/Resistors for Rocket BOM
The CDE's are WBR'S so a 20uf cap in 450v is a WBR20-450 and 40uf a WBR40-450. These along with Spragues and Mallory's are still out there and available but have likely been on a shelf for years. They are also bringing a premium for some reason. F&T's are a great option being that they are rated hig...

Very nice, the variations you implemented are clever. How do you like the 6550's in this circuit?

Re: Who still makes great hardwood cabs for Trainwreck amps?
Hey Guys. I’ll still make cabs. Just ordered a nice piece of figured cherry. That I’ll try to post. Wood has gotten expensive about 60.00 more. This cherry board with shipping is 160.00. But they are beautiful. I do them because I enjoy it. You can reach me at my little site Faithamps@weebly.com Th...

Re: Type of wire
will this work? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QT9HX2X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I'm not even sure what Amazon is selling there but am pretty certain it is not what you want in an amp project. I have a specific preference for the wire I use in my Trainwreck clones that ...

Here is where I have bought them in the past. They have gotten pretty expensive and I'm not sure they're worth the extra cost.

Re: Liverpool preamp tube differences
I like the Sylvania 12AX7WA in both Express and Liverpools. I also have had good luck with Amperex,Mullard and Tungsram in the Express, I haven’t tried any of the newer made tubes in either.
