Re: Multimeter recommendations
All this meter talk got me started. My Fluke model 12 has been in my travel kit for at least 35 years. The select button stopped working and makes it only measure DC and conductance. I found an 87 III on cragslist. $125. Meter is in great shape. I ordered a 400ma fuse which had been blown on the mil...

Re: Matchless HC30 clone mods?
I remember the first time I played through a matchless 30 combo. It had a green back thread was lightly done and a H30 with no dope or vis-à-vis. Anyway the sound was beautiful clean with a touch sensitive great topend. My thoughts about bass flabby is the pickups and the output transformer. Origina...

Re: Standel artist toward a DG 30
That helps Colossal. The Standel has a voltage doubler power supply. it runs up at 385 v with screens down at 300v to run the tubes colder. I have a hammock 270 transformer for tube rectifier. That would lower voltage down in the 320 v range.
It’s a summer project. Will see where it goes.

Standel artist toward a DG 30
I have a Standell artist. It’s 20 watt with two 6BQ5 output tubes and those solid state block preamps. The preamps are missing so I added a parallel 12aX7 to it And did Kevin O’Connor’s soma amp. It runs clean and loud and a pretty solid 20 watts. But the tone control is lacking for me in the design...

Re: How to Lossen-up a tif amp ?
Reduce c3 I think. .001. To 500 to 250p No cap. Rolls off the searing top which slows the top down. No cap in the Hendrix amp.

Re: How to Lossen-up a tif amp ?
What speakers are you using? Difference between a celestion H30 and a JBL E120is drastic when it comes to stiffness. Also a Marshall bass Super 100 and lead is drastic. Also presence cap and bright cap make a big difference . There was no bright cap on early Hendrix and Clapton amps. I didn’t look a...

Re: Plexi build from an old Carlsbro PA5-60
Looks really good. The basket weave has a good look to it for the front panel. Makes it look older like a 66 Marshall somehow. Just my opinion. Nice use of the old pa head.

Re: What is the most aggressive transformer you could put in a superlead, and why in your opinion?
I owned a 1959 back in1970. The b+ was 560 volts. It could maintain clean to a point And brightness. On a resistive 8 ohm load I would measure 160 watts after doing the math with a lean sine wave on a scope. (Probably 10% distortion clean) I remember measuring later Marshall’s at 480 volts. They wou...

That is a beautiful tone from the Marshall. Nice fluid playing from the guitarist helps as well.
When he switches the drive in, is that a pab or an overdrive stage? Anyone know?

This is a damn good sounding little amp. As soon as I’m done with my tweed champ, I’m working on one of these. Nice job Niki.

Re: My lil 5F2-A build
The Tweetle Dee layout shows strait to rectifier
I’m interested in a slight beefed up version for playing with 6L6/EL34.
Sorry this is about Tubedoods great amp build thread might start a new thread and remove

Re: My lil 5F2-A build
Why the 1K resistor before feeding the B+ to the output transformer. Seems like that would reduce the current to the output tube. usually its a direct feed from the first filter cap off the rectifier.

Great Stuff. Killer pocket. Hammond and Les Paul with just the right amount of grind. Goin to the church of tone worship today.
