Re: The Legend has passed
Sorry if it sounds cantankerous, but these guys have built hugely successful businesses from this mans work. The least they can do is thank him for his enormous inspiration. I'm not anti clone and this is not a diss on their amps (they are mostly amazing), but I think thay should pay thanks to HAD o...

Re: The Legend has passed
Most recent 'guitarwank' podcast is about HAD and is very interesting. Apparently he showed Clapton a lick that EC thoughts was cool and he also named the marshall mod 'purple haze'. Bruce Forman and Richard McDonald (they both own ultraphonix and tweedle dee from the past few years.) Also disappoin...

Re: Mike Landau new dumble???
Thanks Scott. The question of "no more new" anything is clearly subject to Howard's sole discretion. He's made a number of products for some people that he told others he would no longer make. It's his right, despite how strange it may be... We've heard (and confirmed) of Overdrive Specials as well...

Re: Dumble video/sound clip reference, real Dumbles only please
Max, So it is known that there were 150w and 300w DL's. What wattage was the DL in the linked clip? I love the tone of it BTW, thanks. Technically if it were a 150w it should be called a Dumbleland Special right? Hi Greg, It's a 150W Dumbleland Special for guitar. In the 1978 price list there has b...

Re: Dumble SSS - history and info
Do you have any footage or pics of him using this 4th amp which you say is number 11? Is it the same that it is in the museum or yet another one? Sorry, don't have any. HAD has had the amp since SRV died. There is a lot of footage from SRV shows from the late 80's on youtube. As far as Dumble amps ...

Re: Steel String Singer
On a similar note did Colin James (Canadian blues guitarist) have a SSS. His sound on his first record to me sounds like one. Very influenced by the "SRV" tone at the time, the high end is different from the ODS.He is quoted as using a dumble. Not just as another recorded example but also for catal...

That is what I have been told. And I doubt that Jimmie would sell any of Stevies gear. There is probably a picture somewhere.Bombacaototal wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 8:43 amOne of the pics with the Silver and Blackface SSS you posted is not from SRV museum. Please find the full size pic attached

Re: So, does anybody know how many real dumbles there are?
Most of the major amp models can be guestimated pretty close, I think, but I'm just wondering how many Dumbles there really are out there... Bob Simpson I am going to guess something over 300. I have heard of high 290+ numbers. But I doubt we will never know. There are a LOT of amps that he keeps a...
