Re: Reverb placement
You could ditch the feedback and send the reverb return to the phase inverter B input. The amps I've built this way have a 3D quality to the verb. Thanks Tubedude, I pick up the signal before the 0.1uf of V5A as shown. No resistor and cap after it. Then I fed the return into the 0.1uf before V5b. I...

Reverb placement
Hello everyone, since a few days I got my first tube amp back. Not the exact same one, but the same model. And a much nicer version too. It is a PCL Vintage Amp VA1956. It was made in the early 80's, and it basicly is a Mesa Boogie MKIIb copy, with all the good and bad. The amp is in a very good con...

Re: The new dumble modded bassman build video series... begins!
BUT I've got an issue, maybe people have suggestions? One of the main boards screw holes happens to be right in the middle of the doghouse, so I can't install one or the other without some kind of 'trick' for that specific hole. If the board screw is under a blank space of the filter board, I would...

Re: The new dumble modded bassman build video series... begins!
I'm really excited about how those caps gonna work! Ok question. Do these look like the right transformers for a 100w Bassman build? https://www.cedist.com/products/transformer-fender-replacement-power-325-0-325-v-200-ma Or should I go for their Hammond P-T290YX found here: https://www.cedist.com/pr...

Re: First D Style Build Advice Needed
If you're going to build then you should build EXACTLY as possible one of the golden builds when you start otherwise you have no reference point. In general you are right, but I think a little more critical look to those topic is needed. I think you can burn a lot of money, if you do so. E. g. the ...

Re: ODS 124 PCB Build
Very nice build!
What are the benefits of using Sprague caps? In Europe they cost around 4 times more than F&T caps. Seems a little overpriced to me. Maybe not in the US.
Cheers

Re: ODS - any advice?
if it was a new build up the overall supply to 24V with matching relays. Best .. Ian Thank you Ian. What I have learned from engeneering topics and from guitar playing: It can allways be done better.. (ok, that was Henry Ford, I suppose...) :D What are the benefits of a 24V relay? If this one fails...

Re: ODS - any advice?
Ah yes, OK---for even a few pedals 1.5-2A would be good. Best .. Ian For a Compressor or a Tubescreamer and a simple Belton brick reverb pedal? With both I'm less than 80 mA. Let's say 100 + 60 for 2 relays & LEDs + a 7809. Ok, it's pretty close, but it's a conservative calculation. I would not hoo...

and the Full Wave Bridge, relay/LED supplies. As you are from Europe, here is what I use: I use a 12V DC kit for the relay support. Plus it gives me extra power for a stomp box reverb and an overdrive routed via the footswitch cable. It fits perfectly behind the PT. https://www.tube-town.net/ttstor...

Re: Build Log - #102 - So it Begins
Just had a look at your BOM. The OT you choose has only a 4 ohm tab. Maybe you should consider this one, with 4/8/16 http://www.classictone.net/40-18102.html I've done the same mistake, by ordering a standard Twin OT. It's not a big deal, my cab runs on 4, but when I have to use a cab with a differe...

Re: #124 sprague atom TVA 1628 replacement.
I've used the F&T 220 & 22 uF caps on my filterboard. They are not the cheapest, but very reliable. Made in Germany, I suppose (that's what they say on their web page). Well, I can't ask for more...
I can't see any advantage to pay 4 times more for Sprague.

Re: What 50w Dumble Should I Build?
one more thing about the 100 vs. 50 watt topic: This amp is designed to sound good in every volume setting. I use it at very low settings (under 1) and it sounds phantastic. There is no need for a half-power switch. The only reason might be, to save some money on tubes and transformers and to have m...

Re: What 50w Dumble Should I Build?
Ah thanks guys! Appreciate all the help I've gotten already. I'm going to start sourcing some stuff and hopefully there will be a build thread to follow. This guy is definitely going to push me but I'm excited for the challenge. I may ask some circuit questions along the way as well - I try to unde...
