Plates ARE 680k, cathode 68k - when I saw it,
I don't believe my eyes, but multimeter
says it's true. Grid has no reference to ground,
but it works...
Not so classic rendering of DC-coupled LTP
Any clues?

Re: Mystery amp from France (?) - SCHEMATIC
Schematic in atachement. Definitely NOT 5E3. Amp got 16W on 8R dummy load when tone set to 5 and volume set to 2 (yes, two). I mean sine wave not clipped. All coupling caps 1000V MKP SCR, all resistors looks like Vishay metal. Unusual phase inverter - I don't know how it works, there is open circuit...

Re: Mystery amp from France (?)
Not 5E3, not split load PI. Visual appearance of this amp is a bit confusing - we all judge a book by its cover :D Me too - my surprise after opening the chassis continues until now. But split load PI is nothing unusual for me, I've been building amplifiers for years. Tomorrow I try to post schemati...

Mystery amp from France (?)
Hello, My friends amp, bought at French pawnshop. Looks like custom order. Specs: Combo 1x12 in tweed, 2 x ECC83/12AX7 (first preamp like fender tweed and second very unusual phase inverter), 2 x 6V6 cathode biased, each on his own cathode resistor and capacitor Rectifier GZ34/5AR4 Transformers by H...

Hot amp! I like it!
I try to do 2-channel amp after you.
Elements in red circle will be matched to personal preferences.

Re: My Liverpool Experiment
Yes, higher cathode resistor get out some "shattered glass" from tone.
Sound will be warmer and rounder - simply try it.
I edit my previous post:
EDITED: 180R - 220R cathode resistor PER PAIR

Re: My Liverpool Experiment
No more class A EL84 with B+ voltages over 280-300V.
AC30, TW, all DR Z, Matchless, BadCat amps all are class AB amps with silly overbiased EL84.
"Class A" marketing hype on these tube eaters

Re: My Liverpool Experiment
With your voltages try 180R - 220R cathode resistor. You can it biased at about 85% at idle. EDITED: 180R - 220R cathode resistor PER PAIR.
And you will like what you hear

Re: Quick survey of Russian tubes
I ordered a dozen Russian 6P3S (6L6GC) (6Π3C) from an eBay guy in Ukraine. ... 6P3S (without -E) aren't 6L6GC! They like voltages under 400VDC and are mechanically delicate. Don't use them in high voltage amps. http://img-fotki.yandex.ru/get/4706/5482694.9/0_5de30_daa02b84_XL.jpg 6P3S has 20,5...

Re: Mcintyre POW Prince o wails questions...
It's used as inductor in series with cathode bypass cap. HAD did something like this in his Manzamp.rooster wrote:Yes, update me. It is interesting to see the use of a mic/line matching transformer in an amp
